Copperbanded in SH tank

I have been thinking of turning my friends old 45 gallon hexagon tank into a SH tank i understand all the requirements for SH but i want to know if i could put a copperbanded butterfly fish in the tank because i have one in my 120g sps tank and hes not loving his tank-mates they consume the food much to fast for him and i feel really bad for the little fellow i know a 45 is a little small but i think he will be a lot happier being able to eat in peace.... But i dont want him to be a nuisance to my SH... they are both really slow eaters.. any thoughts?

i'd say the CBB would out compete the SH for food (at least mine would have!). its presence and swimming habits in the water column may or may not stress the SH, which typically puts them off their food. SH lack a true stomach, and as such, cannot hold food for digestion, so it's really important that they eat daily.

the best i could say is let the SH get super comfy, then add the CBB and see what happens. just be prepared to yank it out if a problem arises.

It is not something I would do myself, but I have been to three public aquariums that have CBB in there seahorse tanks.

It is risky, but might be worth a shot. IMO a 45g might be to small of a tank to try in, but that's really nothing more then a slightly educated guess.

I have a 130 gal. seahorse tank and one copperband in with them. I put the copperband with them and it's about 8 months together.

The copperband and seahorses are very polite to each other. They all feed from the feeding station and wait for the mysis to drop into the dish.

I have never seen the copperband disturb the seahorses or purposely steal the food.

I plan on getting a CBB when I can get my 180 up and running. I too have a lot f folks with quizzical looks when they confirm that I will be making that ENTIRE tank a seahorse commune. CBB also LOVE to eat aptaisias. That is the reason I'll be placing one in there. So that could be the reason that they may be well satisfied when it comes to dinnertime. Also adding some dried seaweed occasionally when the aptaisia look sparse.
