Coral Beauty in 8g?

No the tank is way too small for a Coral Beauty Angelfish. They get get too large for a 8 gallon and they need plenty of swimming room. I would say the minimum tank size would be 40 gallons. If you really want a fish for your tank look into Gobies such as Clown, Neon, Masked, Trimma, Greenbanded, etc.

That tank would be way to small. Thats like asking you to move into a closet.

Anyways, my business partner is still skeptical... he remembers when people said you couldn't do a salt aquarium under 30 gallons, especially without a protien skimmers...
Who knows, maybe in a few years people will have a different opinion.
He says, these fish are yanked out of the ocean, thrown in a half filled 5 gallon bucket, bounced around in a boat, trucked to god knows where, shipped across the ocean, packed in holding tanks with hundreds of other coral beauty (which aren't supposed to be kept together), then when they reach the retailer sent home in a drop of water... and you think they can't be kept as the only fish in a peaceful 8 gallon aquarium.

Its just not a good idea. I don't think he'd live very long even if you did do it.

Absolutely a bad idea. That's just too small of a space for a fish of that size to live.

isn't that why tank bred fish survive better and all the fish from the sea we take die more frequently?
FWIW, an odd fish migh be more resistant to a preditor and that fish is able to propogate and become more prolific and this is where evolutions goes... the 'mass die off' is due to lack of evolution

I'm not one that is a big fan of keeping any fish in an 8g. It can be done, but I don't think the angel would be happy. Angels are free swimming fish, they don't perch like a goby. No, they're not gonna need as much room as a tang, but I think any free swimming fish of that size should have at least 30g to swim and be a fish.
