Coral Beauty keeps hiding

I got a coral beauty yesterday and it keeps swimming in and behind the live rock. Wont really come out in the open. Is it just getting used to the place or is this normal?

There is a good chance that it is shy and needs some time to warm up to its new home. Probably best to just wait it out and give it time to warm up.

It has been only a day since you got the fish so give it some time to warm up to the tank.

Also, coral beauty fish usually spend most of their day swimming in and out of rock work. That's just what they do.

Mine did the same thing for a couple of days, and really wasnt eating, but eventually came out (maybe just out of hunger) and now likes to show off and eats like a pig. I would give it time.

+1 on normal behavior. Coral beauty's can be kinda shy. Mine stayed hidden for a few days until he was comfortable in surroundings. He'll still dash into rockwork when I come by tank, but eats like a horse & swims laps around everything else in tank.

Gotta agree with everyone. I love mine! Did the same thing - even one better. I gave it a Methelyne dip & it was so po'd @ me, it would not look at ME - seriously, it gave me it's tail for about 3 days. If your guy / gal gets nicely acclimated, you'll see it's got great personality. Best of luck to you :beer:
