Coral Freeze

Who else uses this type of food for their corals, clams, etc.? When you add it to the tank do you turn off the skimmer and filters?

Do you mean coral frenzy? If so, I used it for a while but was always fighting algae when I used products like that.

I spot feed coral frenzy to some of my sps corals and will notice increase polyp extensions i dont turn off skimmers or anything.

I don't turn pumps or skimmers off for any feedings... don't know why one product would be any different than others. Keep pumps and skimmer running!

Yes, it is the Coral Frenzy. I knew as I was typing it that what I was typing seemed off. Nonetheless, yes, it is Coral Frenzy. When I put it in my skimmer goes nuts for about 2 hours. No issues with algae since I started using chemi pure elite. I don't feed often, maybe once every 3-4 weeks.

Way less than they recommend. Once in a while. I don't stop the skimmer, just tweak my pumps to keep it out of the overflow . Lps respond well

Yes I use coral frenzy to spot feed my zoanthus once every 2 weeks or so. It's an on an off thing; they seem responsive to it and I should probably make it a part of a weekly routine. The leftovers blow around for the other corals. I don't bother to turn off the skimmer.

I tried to look up Coral Freeze; I got a link to frozen coral colored rose petals. I don't think I would try them but they might make things just rosy.

remember Bingman's skimmer study?

remember Bingman's skimmer study?

what was it... something like 23% of DOC's are removed by the best skimmers tested a few years ago?

So no matter what your'e feeding the aquarium.... it's gonna be in there for a couple of hours (at least). I did notice CF causes orange skimmate. So do some other foods such as Cyclop-eeze.
If you feed your fishes, corals are usually getting some of that fish food to eat.
This is why I'd rather put my dinero towards foods such as Pro Salt's 'Marine Supreme' and similar.

Can you imagine if some of the larger public coral displays (google Joe Y's Atlantis Marine World) were to feed their corals something like 'frenzy? The cost would be astronomical.

Feed the fish.
