Coral gobies protect Acropora corals

Interesting info.. i've also heard that they are known to irritate them and reduce polyp extension though.. if thats true, do these gobies have a direct benefit in the small sps reef or only in reefs with butterflies?

+1 for above, I had one in a 180 mixed reef, the little twerp ****ed off all of my SPS, had to take him out. He would go to one, sit on it and then go to the next and so on, when ever he rested on a SPS it polyp's would tighten up, never bothered any of the LPS or softies.
 
I've had several of these little guys in my DT for many years now. Yea they bite at polyps but I honestly haven't seen any real damage as a result.

Never imagined they had any benefit what so ever.

Even if I had ten of them, I would be too scared to put a Black-tailed Butterfly in my tank to see if it really works.
