Coral life duel timer

I am almost positive that I read a post a long time ago about how some guys house caught on fire due to this timer. And it wasn't just an assumption. The fire chief actually filed it that it was the cause of the fire. Do some searching on RC. Maybe somebody can bring back that post. Cheers

I have a Coralife timer (digital) that eats batteries every 3 weeks. (at $5.00 a pop) then looses its time and stops working. My Coralife PC light worked great for 3 months now it makes a hell of a noise for the first hour after I turn it on. (manually because my timer is crap.) I'm seeing a pattern here... I won't buy anything that says Coralife on it again. You could try and take it back.

(sarcasim)Awsome(sarcasim)

I really do like the setup of the timer. Maybe I'll try and exchange it a couple of times untill I find one that works.

There have been a lot of problems with corallife as of late (including fires). I yanked all mine off my tank, they are in the garbage wear they belong.

I have the Coralife duel timer. I have had absolutely no problems with it in the 5+ months that I've been using it. It does not appear to be losing time.

Intermatic mechanical timers is what I've been using (just got an AC Jr. in today so moving to that ;)). Those intermatic timers are indestructible it seems. I tend to break everything the first time around, but I haven't broken one of those.

I have one. I don't have much to say in the POSitive category. Several times it has just stopped working altogether, timer stopped working, and the dam thing makes no sense to program.

Fix: Unplug everything. Beat the ^&%^#^% heck out of it against a table or floor. Reinstall the small battery, reprogram it. Works like a charm until I have to beat the f*&@&*@#&^ heck out of it in a month or so.

I have one of those digital ones from coral life and it still works i have had it for about 6 months or so, i have had some problems with it though like it wont turn the lights on/off, i say its junk, its for my freshwater tank, i just use it as a power strip now, because it dont seem to want to turn things on/off.

Imo i would go with the AC when i get the money so i can have it automated :D

Seems like the fire hazard one is the manual dial one.

Seems like some have had success with the digital one while others hate it.

Hmm.....My thought is that the typical $6 walmart timer is probably just as hazardous :)

I had the same problem with mine. One timer on it worked great. The other time was losing time every day. I had it for about 9 months and it started acting funny about a month ago. I've since replaced it with an Aquacontroller Jr.

i think it was the digital timer that person had catch fire. If you look on the bottom of the digital timer it says to not use anywhere near water... but Coralife covered it up with their sticker so you cant see that.

Well duh anyone should have the knowledge not to use electricity near water... But i think they should not have covered it up.

I had the timer and exchanged it 3 times. Same problem it would start to lose time, then after a week or two get stuck and never shut off.

I have two of the single timer versions(one for two years and one for 6 mo) and I've never had a problem with either one.
