Coral Orphanarium

So while Ryan is working on his house he is breaking down a few tanks and prepping for his next build. In the meantime he needed some temporary housing for some frags and Sean's Orphanarium was born (Ryan kept his visitation rights). I thought it would be fun to chronicle some growth and before and after shots of what I hope to be some beautiful corals. And now the before just after they were placed with a cannon point and shoot camera......

Thanks for making this thread. It will be great to watch them grow. Gary and/or Chris might be able to chime in on the Garf as well. Its going to be fun to watch them all recover and grow.

After Sean left last night, I spent more time with my tank than I had in nearly a year. I scraped the glass, ripped out some more hair algae, and then sat with my face against the glass. It doesn't take much to catch the fever again. lol. So... I took a Tylenol and went to bed.

So....with the introduction of the new fish I felt a reorginization was in order. Here it is with new fish friends and reaquascaped.

i think i see some color comming back!

The tang is getting some good color back and is devouring the mysis! all in all everyone is happy and getting along swimmingly! I really like the new swimming room it has created but i may need to get another small powerhead as the flow left to right is much more blocked than it was before with all the pillars and cliffs

Looks great Sean, did you just get the Tang after seeing mine? I'll fix you up a Frogspawn rock! Can throw in some Green Star polyps if you want n/c.

That tang, a royal gramma, and the serpent star are also orphans from ryans tank. That poor guy has really gotten beaten up before ryan got him. I would be pushing it to jam your tang in my tank, i think the regal is really pushing it! what can I say I wanted a flame fin, wife wanted a dori. nuff said. I'd love some gsp, I know people poo poo it because it grows so fast and takes over but i like what I like!

Yep Remember how bad it was?! Sean lives right down the road form me and will be giving it a good home now. I don't know if that top dorsal fin will ever fully regrow... but its getting around pretty good.

that fish has a great personality! gets along with everyone and loves to eat and swim through rockcaves. did not hide a bit when introduced to the tank and my coral beauty follows it around playing "simon says" all afternoon. It gets a little wobbly sometimes you can tell it has adapted to swimming with no dorsal fin! royal gramma popped out today finally to say hi. I am very happy with how my tank is looking, thanks again ryan!

well i wanted to show ryan some of the growth, the most impressive has been the frogspawn, he has really taken off. I dont think the purple bonsai is gonna make it, but i have not given up yet he still has polyps and has purpled up but has no real growth. anyway these before and after threads are fun!

Is the purple bonsai photo #6 if so it looks healthy, As far as growth goes it may be a slow grower so not to worry! Everything looks good, Nice job at coral sitting!

i did not take a pic of the purple bonsai, i was actually thinking of bringing in to your house to see if you could nurse it, i would hate to see it perish! I think it may just be too sensitive for my novice husbandry skills.
