coral skeletons from caribbean safe?

My in-laws just got back from Isla Mujeres (5-10 miles from Cancun) and brought back some coral skeletons they found while snorkeling/scuba diving. The idea being that I would put them in my tank. They look like they were brain corals. Is there a recipe for cleaning these things before I put them in the tank? I was thinking vinegar, but i'm not sure. Any suggestions?

Cure as you would normal LR, but be aware that mixing Pacific and Atlantic origins will open the door for pathogens to which non-local fish species may not have immunities.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. I have brought coral home from that area and put it right into my reefs without any issues. I even have live rock, zoos, rics, sps, hermits, snails and a couple fish that have come home with me from the Mayan Riveria over the years.
