Peter

Are those scratches in the tank?

The plastic still hasn't been removed from the sides. Peter has mentioned in the past that it won't come off until the rock work is done. Sounds like a good plan.

Dave wins the prize!!!!!! No scratches (yet). The bros Grimm are betting their careers on it. The original plastic wrap is still on the tank and it looks scratched but it is not.

So i guess you didn't read my post earlier...? I know your busy I just felt that the MH and LED combo would be the simplest and get the most light into your tank for corals.

I did see your post scubasteve, I just haven't had a chance to catch up on any posts yet but, as the group can tell you, I will. Lighting is important but right now I am totaly preoccupied with the live rock and the aquascaping. I think it will take most of this week.

Peter

It is definitely a tough challenge but it is more than fun. Right?:wavehand:

ChingChai, I am getting a good feeling for how much effort and talent went into doing your aquascape. It is extremely difficult to mimic what you did even though we have the benefit of your photos of the construction for your tank. We are trying to capture the major elements and it is taking a phenomenal effort. The end result might not do you justice but we are going to try harder. I think that anyone who says this is fun hasn't ever done any serious aquascaping......this is serious work. The irony is that when it works it looks like it was an accident!!!!!

Peter

This is one of the best builds I have ever seen. Wish there was more detail on the pumps and such but great build.

Has anyone seen Mr. Wilson lately? Would like to know where he got that Epo Putty.

Keep up the great build I love it.

Mr. Wilson and the crew have been working very very late nights for the last few days. I think Mr. Wilson should be coming up for air by the weekend. Right now he is finishing the RO/DI fixtures in the fish room. The four Grimm Bros are back in the tank redesigning the Aquascape for the fiftieth time!!

Thanks for the support. Pump detail will be coming soon I hope. We need them now. We have ordered them from Germany and are hoping they get here soon. When they get here we will put up as much detail as we can as well as our thoughts on performance.

Keep it up!!

Whats the window for? That RO/DI unit looks sexy!

If I can answer that one for Peter, the window is so Peter can oogle his sexy fish room from his sexier tank when it's all done!

EVERYTHING about this system is sexy!!! :smokin:

If I remember correctly from earlier in the thread the window is so when people are looking at the display tank from the main room they can also see all the support systems and mars stations to help them better understand what it takes to achieve something that i'm sure will be nothing short of eye dropping and amazing. Also i'd want people looking at all that fancy stuff too :lmao:

Well It appears when you start typing a response and leave the computer and come back almost an hour later to fininish and submit someone else will beat you to the punch of answering a question  oops sorry

I have added some more detailed description to Peter's photos. I hope I don't complicate the matter further :)

This is one of two, two-way intakes for the closed loop. The oversized strainers assure that a cleaner shrimp or anemone can sit right on the strainer as 2500 GPh is drawn through them.

This one is one of two, two-way closed loop return lines. The intension is to keep these two shared ports on low and ramp them up to high for a reverse flow backwash periodically.

This is the biggest plumbing piece in the tank. It's an independent four-way closed loop (in) line that directs water down both lengths of the tank. It is an important part of the closed loop system as it sends water up to the surface with 4, 45˚ elbows. This picks up the water travelling across the bottom from both end.

This piece is the other "twin" two-way closed loop return that reverses the direction of circular flow to a certain extent.

This one is an independent closed loop return that picks up water half way along the long side of the tank and sends it the rest of the way down to the corner.

This is the other closed loop intake at the opposite end of the tank. Each closed loop return pulls water from the opposite end of the tank to add to the flow dynamics and water mixing.

There are two of these at each end of the tank, flanking the overflow boxes. The disperse water across the bottom of the tank on each side of the rock work. We will attach corals to it later and make it disappear.

Mr. Wilson,

Thank you for the descriptions on each of the different fixtures. It really gives a good idea of how the pieces work what they do.

Perhaps I missed it, but has the process of disguising the in-tank plumbing been documented anywhere? I'd like to know the method... (if I did miss it, I apologize for what should have been unnecessary clutter, and profusely thank anyone who can direct me to the original information.)
