Thank you so very much, all three of you have gone above and beyond with the web site. Your generosity and kindness is what makes reefing so special.Men and women from all over the world coming together to share and help.Truly this is a most appreciated gift from you 3 to all of us.Thanks again

Yes I agree with you, the global reach of this place is it's biggest asset. i just wish I could spare the time to see all the tanks I would like to....in person!

Finally, Peter's website is online.

I am sure it will be very helpfull sence I am just getting started on my new 240 galon. I have already learned so much from this thread. it will be great to be able to easily reafrence all the meterial as I go through my build. thanks Peter and team and a big thanks to Dave M

Peter

Peter,

With all you said a few posts back......do you take the time to stop, stand or sit in front of your tank and just watch? I really hope that you do. I spend a lot of my free time "puttering" around the tank.... I enjoy those quiet moments when I just sit and watch. I really like looking at night to see the things you don't see during the day. I even have a special "tank" flashlight.

Stop and watch the things that you have created. Enjoy the show because the rest of us are. I think of my tank as an extension of yours and I hope that everyone else does too. I feel that through this thread we are all connected to you, Mr. Wilson, Chingchai, andytrippa and all the rest. It would be interesting to know the collective gallons of this entire thread... We all share this tank and by in part you share all of our tanks as well and I want to make sure you are enjoying your part.

Scott

As a much younger Hobbyist I remember sitting in front of a fresh water tank for hours and concluding ........... this is much better than TV. I was mesmerized by by the whole environment defined by the fish behaviours and social structure of the inhabitants. I have to admit with this experience I am not there yet. I'm sure I will reach a point when the need for a critical eye is less demanding but I am still too involved in the tanks fragile evolution to just sit back and relax. That observation is not meant as a negative.....it just is the nature of the beast for the time being. I believe, as I mentioned earlier, that once the evolution in the tank takes over I will have no choice but to sit back and begin to go along for the ride. When that happens I will be ready for it......

Peter, the website is fantastic! It's great to have so much information in one spot. The only thing I noticed that was missing was a nutrition section for fish. If it's buried under another topic I may have missed it.

Thanks

Peter, Shawn and Dave
Thanks you for putting together the website as it has alot of great information in one spot.

I do have a question from the teflon tape section. When you mentioned plumbers paste was that actually a teflon paste? I have been using this instead of teflon tape and still have not seen it harden so that the plumbing cannot be taken apart.

Hello Peter and Shawn,

To echo many here, your contributions and efforts to share your knowledge have been greatly appreciated. The new website is another great endeavor which helps reefers new and old. Like the format and breakdown.

Hope to run into you are MACNA in a few weeks.

Also if convenient sometime, like to stop in at your place in Toronto again sometime and take some more pictures (regrettably the incident with my camera disappearing last time in T.O., it held the pictures). Still progressing with my build, slower than I hoped, but better to take time to try and do it right. Watching and reading about yours in particular (and others too) does help in that endeavor.

Thanks Joe from Windsor area

Hi. For those who were having trouble getting the larger resolution image from Peter's Contest page on Phanfare I have updated and improved the instructions. Sorry for any difficulties you may have had.

Thank you Peter, Mr. Wilson, and Dave for an outstanding web site. I check this thread every time I log into RC, and your site resides in my aquarium favorites folder! I still hope to be able to purchase a "pulp" version at some point!

I finished!

I finished!

There should be a club for those of us who have read this thread from front to back :lolspin:

I have been following this thread for quite some time now and I have to say it has been an absolutely amazing transformation. I have learned a TON of "best practices" that I try to implement on my own tank (1st aquarium I have ever had - 60g). I am very thankful that Peter and Mr. Wilson respond to almost every post; it really makes it feel more like a personal journey. I have showed this build to numerous friends and family to show that a reef aquarium is not simply a "fish tank" but a small ecosystem and that it important to spend time, money, and energy on maintaining everything if you are committed to having everything fit together, stay healthy, and look it's best. Thank you to the entire team for your dedication and for bringing a piece this amazing work into all of our own homes!!

I look forward to watching this build continue to unfold for a long time to come! :D

Wow! The web site is fantastic! Yet another "best practice"

I may be wrong, but I would bet that most of us enjoy "tinkering" with our tanks more than just sitting and relaxing at our tanks. I wonder how many would admit that.

WOW!!!!
I feel as though I as if I have acheived a life long dream, getting to the end of this stunning build.
Although i must say I am guilty of of scrolling through some pages simply paying attention to the pictures and ignoring the text hahaha.

Oh Peter .... You are soooo much closer than you giving yourself credit for! I have to belive that every inhabitant of you reef ... No! your system! ... Motile or Sesile ... Is very content to be right there! :fish1:

I just wanted to say thanks for this incredible thread. I've learned a ton along the way. I first found the thread from Coral magazine and have been reading page after page since. I have to admit that I did fast forward a couple of pages, so your website will be an excellent reference.

I haven't seen any more discussion regarding your research on auto feeders and I don't recall anyone referencing this feeder, but it looks like it might be up your alley:

http://glassbox-design.com/2010/azoox-nps-coral-continuous-feeding/

I'm sure Mr Wilson could set this up with his eyes closed.

We're still tinkering with plans. I'm trying a simple system today. It's just a tee into the sump return pump right in the sump. It's an open line where food will be dropped down and subsequently sucked up and blown into the tank. We will start with dry food and add wet foods as we iron out the kinks.

We are starting to get a lot of candy floss algae in the mangrove system. Does anyone know an invert that eats the stuff? I have been manually removing it but it grows like wild fire. It's a great nutrient export but I don't ant to risk it showing up in the display. The mangrove wall has slower flow, yellow plasma lights, a longer photo period and no predators (algae eaters) so I'm not sure if it could survive in the display, especially with all the tangs. Any and all suggestions are welcomed.

With the advent of chair and table levelers, book sales are dropping, but the plan is still on one of the burners.
