Is there anyway to prevent coraline algae from building up on the glass? If not is a razor blade the only option for getting rid of it?

Keep wiping the glass daily with something (MagFloat) and that should stop it form being able to take hold. if not the razor blade is he next best option.

I have an easy blade scraper (made by algae free) that mounts to my magfloat. It cost around $15 and works very well. http://www.algaefree.com/easy_blade.html

I like a credit card instead of razor since it doesnt scratch the glass! and yes if you keep the glass clean itll stay away longer
