Hey all, thought I would share some much useful information, I had a total tank loss last year, and in my attempts to figure the cause I purchased a new RO unit. I have restarted my tank just recently and needed to change my RO filters and while doing so I noticed several things wrong with the unit.
Directly from the factory it was plumbed incorrectly on 2 of the 3 filters, and the membrane pure and waste water elbows were in the wrong location.
What i found was the filters were filtering from the inside out not the outside in of the cartridge.. the elbows on the membrane were different, by the means of the waste water had the one way valve elbow and the pure was straight through no restrictor.. Changed all the lines and elbows to match my old unit and it works much better.. I emailed corallife about this problem and they were aware of it and have since fixed the mistakes with the new units..
So just a heads up, check your RO units thoroughly before you use them..
