Coris gaimardi

*a search here turned up nothing*

What destruction is this species going to wreck upon your average reef aquarium? Is it a jumper on the order of a Cirrhilabrus.. or more like a Thalassoma? TIA + HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I'm gettin one soon! A friend of mine got two of them a few years ago, and one of them he gave away to another friend of mine.
Last week the remaining fish jumped two times! The first time it hit the light and dropped back to the tank, and the other time it bounced of the walls and dropped to the overflow box. Now it has a small tank untill we can arrange a transportation for it.

The other one jumped also, and landed on an overflow cover and didn't survive :(
So it is a jumper, big time!

The fish I'm getting is 4" now, and it has dropped virtually every coral that's not glued. It has a habit of carrying sand stars around and dropping them over corals, it digs under every rock and has killer a few shrimps. Lovely...

The tank that it has been living is much smaller than mine, so we'll see waht happens when he arrives :)

Reaches 16" in length and will love any invert it can find. No direct risk to coral, but they'll flip anything over they can manage in search of food.

Not a good candidate for a reef tank, IMO.

All wrasses require a covered tank.

i bought a 6" adult few months ago. i was attracted by its beautiful coloring. in the first month i thought i have made a mistake.

it went on redecorating my rubble area right away. flipping every single piece upside down looking for food. when she finished that area she dig herself under the big piece which she can not move creating a sand storm...not good.

she eats all the fresh food, mysis, clam, chopped shrimp... but her favorite.. garden worms. it was quite fun watching her eating those big live worms with gusto.

she eats a lot, always looking for food. after 8 weeks she start accepting flakes and the sand storm activity has decreased to minimum. she holds her own not aggressive to any fish. she sleeps under the sand.

so far i have notice most of my baby snails is gone but the bigger ones and red leg hermits is still around. she did not touch my cleaner shrimps.

surprisingly, it actually turns out ok for me.
