Friend is getting out of saltwater to a degree and I have first crack at his green mandarin. He has had the fish for 2 years or so and it is eating pellets.

I have a 90 gallon well established with the following fish:
yellow tang
6 chromis
2 false percs
bangaii cardinal
royal gramma
flame angel
coral beauty
bi color blenny
neon damsel

My concern would be the blenny just because he really hugs the rock and the mandarin occupies the same niche. Would the mandarin be ok with this setup? Really would like to get it. Thanks

I have a red scooter Benny or dragonet and a tail spot blenny in my 46 gallon bow with a 38 gallon filter with over 100 pounds of live rock, l would go for it

Turn off lights early and acclimate and add mandarin after lights out. Will give him time to adjust without everyone checking him out.

In my tank I have 9 fish and mandarin can care less about any other fish in the tank. Just keeps hunting. Constantly.

Thanks for all the input. I will go for it but things have changed. He is undecided what he wants to do now. Oh well, I'm giving it my best shot to get it!!!

I have a green mandarin and a lawnmower blenny in a 30 gallon 2x2 rimless cube with sump. and their best Buddys, Benny the lawnmower blenny actually seems to follow Mr. mandarin around..like when the mandarin moves the blenny moves Along with him grazing along with him as Mr mandarin hunts for pods and baby peppermint shrimp. Sometimes the blenny gets on him, but he doesn't seem to mind. Best Buddies.

Definitely try to get the mandarin their amazing, i want to get a female for my male

+1 to what most have said. I have a spotted mandarin and a starry blenny together in the same tank and neither one notices the other. Actually the mandarin doesnt notice any of the other fish. The only thing he cares about EVER is hunting his next pod.
