Frag pics and fish

Frag pics and fish

Due to some busy fish last time i couldn't get good pics of some new additions. So i distracted them with the algae on the clip while taking pictures . So here goes the first are frags i got from Speedemonlsr. First is a Green Slimer, the color is much darker but the lights wash it out in the photo.

Second is a Tricolor with purple-blue tips, again due to the brightness of the lamps the true color is a bit washed.

Lastly is an Orange Digi that got knocked over yesterday and has lost some color, so wee will see.

Next is a lookdown shot of the Torch that i got from TJ, and you can see one of my hams trying to get in the frame.

And a couple fish shots.

I'm hoping to get the light for my frag tank set up soon so i can put smaller frags in a safe place till they can hang in the display.

Compliments of RJ Ripetide, i was able to add another LPS colony to the tank. Its a branching pink tip hammer. RJ also has a really nice wall hammer that he is considering parting with to make room for some new SPS if anyone is interested. These pictures were taken the following day after being added to the tank.

I'm still burning off a diatom bloom from the rocks but all the coral seems to be doing well and i am seeing tons of life after lights out, the rock is crawling with critters. I'm even finding micro stars camping out in the overflows. Even with the high flow through the overflows, i have quite a population of pods climbing around in them.

I went down to feed the tank today and noticed one of my large Tongan Nassarius snails almost to the very top of the glass. This seemed strange to see it in the middle of the light period. When i took a closer look i realized it was laying eggs! Here are a couple pictures.

I'll be keeping an eye on them to see what develops or they become food.

I'm not sure if the camera drew attention to the situation or what but i checked an hour ago and the area where the eggs were was picked clean. Not sure who did it, cause the whole gang was eye-balling the area.

Macro madness

Macro madness

I've been pruning back my refugium every couple weeks and handing out gallon bags of the stuff to anybody who stops by. And i still end up with this!

The color looks off because i shot it with a flash.
My DIY skimmer is doing well, skimmate production is surprising. The only thing that slows it down is daily tank feedings. Cooking in the house dosen't seem to bother it like my previous unit. Here is a pic of the scuz coming out of it. This is just after feeding the tank when it drops back production.

And last but not least a FTS on an angle.

So far he is out eating with the gang and on the move constantly. With this fish i may not need the MJs he leaves a wake behind him! Seems to be very curious but not aggressive at all so far. Keeping fingers crossed.

Wow, i just noticed the amount of coraline that has grown between the FTS and the one with the trigger in it. No wonder i had to bump the flow in the reactor! I took 5 1 gal ziplocs to the meeting and its already starting to fill in again! TJ you'll have to stop out and check out the setup.

wow that is one of the nicest looking frogspawns i think i have ever seen. also like to see the sailfin one of my favorite fish not many seem to put them in their reefs anymore.

Nice looking trigger Mark. I'm glad that one isn't a wussy like all the males I have purchased over the years. I've always had to buy a female to get the male out and swimming :)

Awesome, I tell you the pics do not do this tank the justice it deserves, stunning in person. Nice new addition and keep up the good work.

Another update

Another update

In the last couple weeks i have picked up some new residents. Here are a couple pics. As soon as my cam batts are charged i will try to get a better pic of the clam by itself. Taking pics of the trio of Anthias is a challenge. I will post pics as my male begins to change color.

I picked him up fron Salty last night. He was eating mysis at the store and was eating it today in the tank, plus hunting the sand and rocks.
