Crab & anenome pics

I bought this crab about three weeks ago & he disappeared into the reef. I thought he'd never show up & was suprised to see him today. I'm not sure how long he's been in there but I couldn't be happier that my female nigripes seem to not care one bit about him moving in. It's funny, because she won't let the male anywhere near the Malu until after lights out.

Please share your crab & nem pics if you have any & also your experiences.

Pretty sure that people are going to want to see more pictures of that anemone. I know that I have never seen a red Malu before.

I agree with everybody above. I couldn't careless about the crab. More picture of the special Malu please.

Umm.......okay, I thought most regulars on here have seen it. I've posted several pics over the years. I've had it for around 6-7 years.

Anyways heres a few pics from about six weeks ago--

I'm sure you noticed how much deeper/darker the colors are now. I have been dosing vinegar since January & the acetate may have helped it add a lot more zoo. You'll notice the rings seem to come & go and it was expanded more in the earlier pics.

I did make other changes like swith to a T5 combination of 2 blue+ & two coral+ which gives me more of a complete spectrum. My acros & LPS that have red also darkend & became more vivid over this time.

There's some reference here about acetate---

It doesn't expand as much now, but has very good feeding response & may not need to reach out as much for the light. The earlier pics almost make it look slightly bleached compared to now.

The older pic was under halides.......the video & recent pics T5.

I'm curious, it looks like you have it in a plastic bowl? Is that to keep it from moving or stinging nearby tank mates or both? It is beautiful!

I suspect it's because he has no sand in the rest of his tank.

Yup, I'm working on an idea for just a section of sand for it but I never followed up for one reason or another.

I've also mulled over other ideas of a dedicted tank or putting it in a tank with LPS & sofites. It doesn't like a lot of heavy flow, so I'm limited to where it can be put.
