Cracked For Life...!!! Help

Quote: Advance Aqua Tanks offers a Lifetime Warranty on all our ClearforLifeâ"žÂ¢ aquariums. What does that mean? Simply this: We stand behind our product 100 percent. Our continuing goal is to manufacture the finest acrylic aquariums and systems available. We support that quality with value and service.

I guess it would if you only read the last two paragraphs if their post :)

I certainly know that If I were the manufacturer I would have handled the situation 100% differently, even if I knew for a fact that the claimant was trying to swindle me.

This has been an interesting thread to say the least.

Bean I think we both know that this is going nowhere, that tank will not get fixed or replaced, and these guys will never understand the point, which is quite clear, like i said before the only good thing that has come out of this thread is exposing CFL.

Great "warranty"...

You have to hire a lawyer to get them to honor it..

I never will buy from them...

You really don't need an attorney. I would go there with a witness and talk to them rationally and tell them that you are planning on filing a small-claims suit to allow the judge to make a decision on this. I wouldn't act upset or threaten him with the suit just nicely tell him so. Small-claims suits are typically inexpensive since there aren't attorneys and I'm assuming this is a small company the owner should come without an attorney.

Did you tank come with any other type of warrant information? This warranty doesn't seem to have the fine print that almost all warrantys have. I'm assuming that the owner wrote the warranty and hasn't ever paid on his warranty.

Douglaslindsey,

Aquarium Obsessed apparently does some amazing work. They are a sponsor here and if you need references there are several of their tanks with build reports etc on the boards. Sanjay's 500G is a great read if you've got the time. He found a scratch in one pane and they came to his house and replaced it... From everything I've read they will be building my next tank if it's a custom size.

sorry guys, i cam down with a serve case of flu. body ache from head to toe and sore throat and mild fevers. im glad that there are a few skepts which makes it fair for both parties. anyhow they have not called me or contacted me so i guess im **** out of luck. i do want to thank everyone and i mean everyone who posted on this.

Like i said i was not trying to get a free tank out of this, i wanted to know what happened and how the warranty applys and they started defending themselfs. if they charged me to fix it i would have been ok or showed me how to fix it .. i didnt know that fact that blaming was there first concern.

someone should let CFL know about those fine prints on the warranty. that might help them save there ***.. too bad they are going to be losing alot of $$$$

camp1320 go file a small claim suit. You are just loosing your time.

They won't repair it as they said they don't warranty the acrylic, only workmanship.

work doesnt not let me take off a day or 2. i am in a position where i cant not miss days. It would rather be cheaper to buy a new tank then to take them to court and waste time:rollface:

you should at least threaten them about going to court but idk if that's going to help since they apparantly monitor the forums.

You do realise that CLS reads this thread right? Very smart!

what is CLS..???

So on April 2 they will have had the tank for 3 weeks now. hopefully they did there test and showed there Acrylic rep the tank.

i know Clear for life reads this. and im not going to stop. they will lose alot of sales and profit because of this..!!

Clear for life said this has never happened before.. that is strange

seriously how many people try to cheat clear for life for a new tank if this kinda things never happens...?? are they that cheap that they are willing to lose many thousands of dollars in sales ..?

the only thing im wasting is time posting this now. oh well.

Sorry I mean CFL. Getting too late for me.

BTW: I don't think many peoplel have the luxury of just driving a tank down to CFL to have them check it out, hence they haven't hear of the issue. Especially when someone with a fully stock tank, they would not waste their time and go through this. It'll be less a hassle to just buy a new time and dispose the CFL and never look back.

I myself never really look @ warranties from mfg, most of the time it's useless and a waste of time. I mean u buy hundreds of things through out the year, how do you keep track of when the warranty expires? If it breaks in 6 months you'll probably toss it thinking that it's been a year.

The tank in this case is something u work with and enjoy day in day out, so you can't really forget it's warranty especially that size tank can be pricey.

i didnt have the luxury to take the tank down there if you read my thead back a few pages it was a waste of a day and hassle.
The tank was broken down. i had 52 tanks 6 of them being clear for life. i breed african cichlids. well used to till i had my baby was born a few months back.
if this was a glass tank which cost $100 sure i would just toss it and buy a new one. A 240 acrylic tank is about $1200-1500 dollars.

Also can someone confirm this/??? CFL is made in china or there acyrlic is made in china..? i could have sore they were U.S.A built or U.S.A products..??

I would be proud to buy something that was labled made in the U.S.A or U.S.A products.

and the last time there website was updated was 1/15/03. I guess they havent made anything new since then wonder why..?

bean and zoos, I understand where your coming from. just wanted to say thanks and that I read the whole thing. mucho informative.

Wow Camp! I cant imagine the stress you are going through. But have you considered that you may have a mantis shrimp knocking on your panes? Ive heard (I dont know if its true or not) that some can break glass heaters if they are big enough.
