Crazy Colors LPS thread.

Great pics everyone! JJ and PL, I like actinics, but will post more soon to appease your non-actinic preference. I am running LEDs, MHs, and natural sunlight on my tanks. The first post is not my coral (green lobo thing) and was taken under actinics. To keep with the spirit intended for this thread, bring on the pics under ANY lighting. Let's see crazy colors, don't care how you got em as long as they are not doctored with PS or other editing programs.:D

can we see some pictures without actinic lighting? most things look better under 20k, especially if they are flourecent to begin with! but even a white t-shirt glows under 20k, know what i mean?

Hopefully we can see both. If people want a non-actinic thread, start one. We just want colors. Bring them on! Actinics and otherwise welcome!

Share your brightly colored LPS corals, any species and even unknowns, such as this one (not mine yet, waiting on a frag).

You too, huh?
I've been bugging Vic for a frag for about a year now. Very sweet coral.

I refuse to believe those are the Craziest Coloured LPS out there...

These are all I have for now of LPS wild colours. Nothing to earth shaking, and no I won't frag anything I post lol!

Come on people post some wild stuff!

Yeah, there's always someone with something better, but yours are pretty nice.

Yeah, there's always someone with something better, but yours are pretty nice.

I've seen some rare glimpses of some rainbow trachy's go through my LFS that would put most of my LPS to shame... but alas, they were already sold by the time I got there haahaa!

This may have nothing to do with anything, but my colours really started to shine when I switched from PC to overdriven T5's and started to increase my water change schedule.

As for rare LPS, like A. Calfo has mentioned in his coral fraging book, he's seen some of the rarest corals in the world, and they are as ugly as sin. Hence why no one collects them and they are still rare.

I don't think I have the best looking corals out there. Taking top-down shots with the proper camera equipment and proper techniques yeilds better shots. I know these are many people out there with GORGEOUS corals, that won't post them up because they will get harrassed with PM's asking them to frag it, etc. And then it's not a special once everyone has seen it. I save my best for me, as I'm sure others do!

Cheers,

Scott

yep, "rare" doesn't necessarily equal attractive. Some things are rare simply because nobody wants them, hence so you never see them.

Here is a Scolymia vittensis that I got from my LFS. I was told they aren't too common, I could be wrong though!

I need to get some better pictures of it though, these are way too blue. It's neon green and loves PE mysis!

That is a Scoly? Looks like a giant, neon-green Acan lord! Did it accidentally get exposed to gamma rays? LOL

Are we talking rare in the trade or rare in the wild? Some of the rarest corals in the wild are pretty ugmo, I definitely agree that there are many things that are rare in the trade simply because they are not profitable to import.

Reefmonger: Seen 'em before, but still its always a pleasure to see your Fungia!
Bradleyj: YOOWWZZAA! Love the Symphyllia!
