Lately I have noticed that two of my SPS have gotten crazy PE (at least that is what I think it is). It happens random but they both usually at the same time. When the photos below were taken it was just after a WC. Is it just PE or should I be worried about something?
One of my acros has been doing this lately too. And its been dying back in the spots where the tenticles appear... sorry i cant say whats going on either but also very curious
I saw my strawberry shortcake do this once when i put it in the tank. At the time i tought it was to get rid of some irritation from me toughing the coral.
Thanks everyone. My alk and Ca have been stable for a long time. Alk is always around 8.7 to 9 and Ca hoover around 430.
I usually see this after feeding, especially when feeding includes coral specific food. I ha e many SPS in the tank but these two are the only ones doing this.
Mesenterial Filaments: Used for both defense and as a digestive mechanism.
Your corals look hungry to me based on the coloration and such a strong presence of the filaments. Not uncommon to see mesenterial as a feeding response after the introduction of food.
As he said. I've only ever seen them on my acros after I feed. Its always seemed to be a good thing in my case. I feed oyster feast, golden pearls, cyclopeeze, ova, rods food.
