crimson knob's skin turning pink in some places

The skin on my Crimson Knob starfish is turning pink inbetween some of the knobs and along the red line on it's arms. Is this new growth or the beginning a potential skin problem? In all other aspects (behavior and appetite) it seems totally normal.

Hey, thanks so much for responding! I've had Ruby (appropriate name for a creature that is Crimson in color) for about 5 months. I have a 46 gallon tank and here are the water specs:

Temp: 78-80 degrees average/ Salinity: 24-25 / PH: 8.2-8.3
When tested last week: Ammonia: 0 / Nitrite: .025 or less / Nitrate: 20 ( I have a good size hippo tang that probably is responsible for most of the Nitrate reading)

I've had the tank for a little over 2 1/2 years and I think the first 10 years is going to be the most challenging for me ;-) in trying to get a handle on even the basics.

Any info you can share is is a good thing and much appreciated!

Just to double check this, do you have a specific gravity reading? I am very concerned about your salinity...unless you mean that it is 1.024-1.025?
