Criticize my tank! 120 gal garden reef

Its a beautiful tank. Congrats. I would let the antelia grow all over the back wall. Why not ? its pretty and it waves nice with the flow. The fact that it is cheap doesnt make it less interesting. Only thing i would do is organize the outside of the tank :) maybe build a little cube cabinet for the equipment.

I'm hoping we will be able to move out of this cheep house we rent in a year and then I will be able to begin working on an upgrade to a larger inwall system so I'm not too worried about all of the equipment everywhere anymore. But ya I put a bucket lid under the CO2 tank because it got a bit wet and left a nice rust spot on the carpet... considering the existing stains and tears in the carpet down here I dont think anyone is actually going to notice. I guess I could try some stain remover too.

I wish it was my tank in the paper, that is a friend of mine and his 5 year old 135 gal. I got one of our local papers to do a story on our local reef keeping club during a tank tour earlier this year. The article does interview me so I guess thats good enough.

I've made a lot of changes in the past year and a half so I wanted to show off my progress. Mostly I really wanted to open up the tank so I removed a bit of the rock and many of the coral. I'm now going for a less is more approach by letting the coral that I really like dominate and grow large. Unfortunately my big volitan lionfish suddenly stopped eating after 4 years and died this August. I wont buy another until I've upgraded to my dream tank (250gal 5'x3'x2'). My new Fu Manchu eats frozen silversides and krill off of the end of a feeding stick.

Not pictured is my ugly but functional stock trough sump that looks like Frankenstein's creation but keeps everything healthy and happy.

Just like before I'm still open to criticism so fire away if you see something that isnt as it should be.

As for the tank I like both the new and original lay out.
Sorry to hear about the lion but the man looks cool.

I loved seeing the initial pictures, and I'm blown away by the new ones. I'm jealous at the current look of your tank.

That is the first time I've seen the frag suspension system used. Pretty cool, I'll have to remember that when I need it.

Wonderful tank!

Sorry, can't criticize your tank much! Except for it being a worthless P.O.S... j/K !

I can't believe you have a fu manchu in an SPS tank! I would they would get blown around in the flow!

I love how you have the mature look going, both with the coral colonies and your beautiful purple tang!

Very nice! How is it finding livestock up there? Would you say you buy most from online vendors or are there acceptable retailers nearby? Nice job.

Occasionally our LFS gets something good in at a reasonable price but for the most part we shop online from stores in larger centers and trade amongst ourselves.

I started this thread to show to myself that I could take criticism for my tank because so many people become very offended if you say anything negative about their systems or what they keep in them. I dont seem to be getting very much of that but thanks for all of the compliments so far!

Where is the bow-down button on this forum? :) Your tank is simply gorgeous ... that Lionfish is PRICELESS!!! Love it so much!
