I have a 175 bowfront and have chosen a panworld 50 PX-X for the return from my sump. It is rated at 1100 gph with head loss that should give me a little better than 5 times turn over of my water volume.

I have chosen a Hammerhead for my closed loop with manifold. At 5800 gph that will be about 33 times turn over of my tanks volume.
Does this sound ok or am I missing something. Please respond I listed this query in the New to Hobby forum and only got 1 reply. I really would appreciate some input from those with experience!

The flow is plenty if not too much.

The sequence Hammerhead is a good pump. I have no expereience with the panworlds but I believe they are fine.

175 Bow front, I'll bet that is a beautiful tank. You must include some photos with your next post,

Make sure that you have a good overflow for the intake side of the hammerhead.

I agree with Jacob, you will have plenty of flow.

Thanks for your input guys. I have been gathering equipment off and on for 3 yrs now and still no water. Decided to get married and build a house, that put it off, then took care of terminal mother of course that took time away from hobby. Sometime in the next few months I will finally put some water in this thing then I will post pics. Thanks again.

The Pan World is just fine. I run a couple on my tank. Excellent quality. The hammerhead is a big pump. I would think that a dart would be fine. Alot will depend on how many outlets you are hoping to have. I run an Ampmaster 3000 on my CL with 4-1" returns split into 2-3/4" locline nozzles. For the ampmaster, I definitely wouldn't go with any more returns.

I plan on having a manifold encircling the inside top of tank1.5" PVC with 8 3/4 outlets equipped with lockline and nozzles. I followed another thread a while back that suggested to another member the use of the Hammerhead. If the dart is enough of course I would rather use it. Cheaper less cost to operate and I would assume less heat added to system.

I had some problems with my two Pan World 50 PX-X pumps. Had to send them both in for repairs and it was not cheap. They are quiet and move lots of water... I just wonder how long my two will last before I need to have them serviced again. :(
I also believe that the Hammerhead will be LOTS of flow. I have a Dart on my 120 and it gives me lots of flow that the corals really love. :)
Anyway MDM Sequence makes great pumps. Highly recommend. :D

I use both brands of pumps you mention. The pan worlds are great IMO. If your going with a sandbed, the hammerhead may be a little much. You might want to consider a dart. I use a hammerhead on my 250 (96" x 24" X 24"). I run it at 3/4 open or I end up with sand dunes.

By the way, both pumps consume mass quantites of electricity!!

Cuby2K here is a pic of the tank that you had asked about.
I ordered and have received the panworld 50PX-X and the Sequence Dart. Now all I have to do is plumb everything build my sump and order live rock.
