Just threw some dry pukani in the tank, im going to cure and cycle it in the tank since its just sitting empty anyway.

But i got some awkward shapes and it was hard to make them work with what i had.

any opinions?

thanks for looking guys!

i feel like the one thats out of place is in the front of the left set of rocks on the bottom looks slightly out of place.

here is the link to the fullsize left and right side shots, i didnt resize them.

It looks good to me shape wise and you have plenty of areas to mount corals. But the left side (viewers perspective) looks possibly unstable.

I am actually going to epoxy the left together, but each of those rocks stands how they sit alone actually so it's pretty stable.

I like it even with the isolated rocks in the front. Are you adding substrate or going BB?

(I would also use a little epoxy on that left structure just to be safe.)

Looks a lot like my layout. You'll lose some height when the sand goes in. Having some smaller rocks to bury and use as foundation for big rocks give you more freedom to move the upper structure pieces without disturbing the sandbed, and that can be useful.

I like it as is, even the small rock in the near right corner.

Possible tweaks: Move that small rock a little further away from the corner, or better yet, move it to center with that other small rock.

Only thing I would change is the rock in the front right but other than that I think it looks great.

Even leaving the rock there it still looks good.

I'd move the round rock on the right to where the small one in the middle is...I don't mind having a loner rock by itself in my tank, just adds a little extra element, and if you do zoa's or something like that, it's a great placement for them.

Yeah. there will be rocks scattered around, but i have better rocks in my 30 gallon & 55 gallon tanks I'll be moving over, much better smaller shapes on them. I literally just threw them in the tank because they were extra i'll likely sump them when i move over some of my other smaller rocks.

thanks for the input guys! It grew on me as the night went on last night, i just didn't think it looked right at the beginning.

I need to find a nice shaped rock for sure for a ricordea gardenstyle rock, they look so awesome.

Also to answer some questions:
I plan on going bare bottom to start, my 30 & 55 are both sand bottom tanks now, and i love the look, but I figured while im doing this all new anyway I might as well try BB, i can always add sand down the line if i decide i don't like it.

Its a whole lot easier to add sand in, than to take it out.

if i ever add sand, i'll likely pull this rock and drill for acrylic rod to stabilize the rock.
