Ok I saw this thing in my soon to be seahorse tank. It is a circular blob, whiteish, moves along the glass by changing shape, and is soft to touch....almost looks like a snail with out a shell, but I don't see any visible mouth. I got a pic (not very good one though)

here is pic:

Can anyone help with the ID???

Thanks

Somebody on another forum suggested that it was a limpet of some sort. It disappeared since I first posted, but today I found a much smaller version of the same critter. after looking very carfully at it (even holding it), I found that it did have a thin shell the same color as its body. I am then going to ID both critters (big and small) as a kind of limpet.

Could also be an Ovoid Egg Cowery. If it's shell is smooth and round, it may be bad for your tank. Can you get a pic of it's back ?

Limpets tend to be more low profile than cowries. Just put a piece of plastic in front of it and it may crawl onto that so you can lift it out and get a better picture.

The big one I haven't seen in a few days....but it didn't look like it even had a shell. the little one and a shell like a limpet, but almost the same color as its flesh. I have had keyhole limpets before so I know their shells. The reason I was asking for ID was because it seemed to not have a shell, but I was told that the mantle sometimes covers the shell and that may be the reason I didn't see one. It was hard to see the topside of the big one because of location, but the little one I was able to pick up.

Going by the pics I saw it isn't a cowery. The shell was not shaped like that and was much thinner

Anyway I will try and get another pic if either show up again.
