crvz's hole in the wall

Can you post up some details on your design?

For just the water sensor? I've used the waterbug sensors (not the console, just the floor sensor) with my AC3 and the breakout box. Nothing too elaborate, but it has worked well in the past. I don't have anything set up right now, but it's in the to-do list (which is ever growing).

For the electrical stuff, I don't have a schematic, mostly because it's overly (and some may argue unnecessarily) complex. I've just been going off of a spreadsheet I built to ensure I don't forget anything. Again, though, I'd rather put the effort in up front to get it as simple to use down the line. Credit goes to drummereef for the basic concept of remotely locating the DC8s, after which I've elaborated my own needs into the design.

I worked some more on the electrical stuff. I had to fix the first panel in order to make all the X10 boxes fit. I finished that and here it is.

And I also built a light panel. These outlets will be wired to the switches or DC8s on the other panel. I've mounted my lumatek ballasts and meanwell drivers to this board, and the Tunze hardware will also mount on this board.

I like what I see.... LED drivers. You need an Apex to control them. Let me know when you plan on ordering your tank. I am wanting to get a 300DD for the turtles.

I was thinking about going this weekend, but we'll see.

i like your electric panel.. lol, dont suppose you want to do one for me :)

We'll trade, I'll build you one of those and you buy me a 300 gallon aquarium.

I was unaware that the apex had the capability to control LEDS. How much control does it have exactly?

I havent looked much into it, but with the apex has four integrated variable speed ports. These are controllable 0-10V outputs which can control either variable pumps (such as tunze pumps) or ballasts that take a 0-10V dimming input (such as meanwell ELN-60-48D drivers). But, I dunno how the interface would work yet, as I don't have one.

Sweet! i have been so basy with these renos i have been missing all the new equipment. Please let us know how this turns out. I think i may go the same route as you and alex (taqpol)

It will be months before I move out on anything, but I'll be certain to keep things up to date.

Two posts today, first about clams. I suffered a fedex catastrophe last week, though it started as a weather issue. In any case, I decided to replace them and got everything in this week. I know have a trio of cook island clams, derasa, maxima and squamosa. You can see them all in this terrible picture.

And top down here. You can really see the difference in the maxima (from blue to green), but they're all beautiful.

I also picked up an ORA squamosa, but it really doesnt compare to the cook islands one.

Unfortunately, even though these came from two different sources, they had some common hitchhikers. Of most significance are pyramid snails (including the clams that came from LA Diver's Den). I've dealt with these before, and they're not that big of a deal, but it's still a bit disappointing.

I also found what I think is a limpet. Anyone confirm?

Post two. New fish. I've always wanted one of these, and I was glad to find one available. It looks pretty healthy, so hopefully it will do well. Black and white mimic tang, often goes by the scientific name Acanthurus chronixis, however I've read some folks classify it the same as other mimic tangs, Acanthurus pyroferus.

So I now have 5 fish in the 120 gallon shallow stock tank, four of which decided to pose in this shot.

Cool that you were finally able to pick one up, and what a beautiful fish! I feel bad about selling mine, but after the fish losses I received moving it might have been for the best. Also, mine lost the pattern in the body as it got older, but your fish already looks bigger then mine was. You'll have to keep us up to date on how it matures!

Looks just like what I have that multiple sources confirmed was a limpet so +1.

Thanks, Frank!

Will do. It would have been slick if we could have managed a good way to get yours to houston, but alas.
