CTARS Club Meetings

You got it man!!! Im all about keeping it easy for the person doing the demo but also fun for all.

I'll work with the BOD and we will plan this as I know everyone enjoys fragging, frags and learning to frag!

cool maybe do a vote on what species of coral

I can help with fragging demos if need be. I agree that it's better to focus on one type of coral at a time. You guys could do zoa fragging one month and SPS fragging another month. You could even have a month where you frag corals that are typically more challenging: acans or brains/bubble corals or chalices.

Some people don't consider chalices that difficult but I think they're super difficult. hah hah.

Also love the fish of the month idea evilmel!
Thanks!

These are all great ideas. Another +1 for fragging. Might also want to consider one on automation/monitors -- taking a look at the various systems out that that monitor, automate, alert and record tank params and tasks.

Another workshop could be on how to work with acrylic. I read some of the forums and it does not appear to be that difficult, I think. However, I would feel much better about my first attempt to use acrylic if there was someone around to look over my shoulder.

Along the lines of working with acryllic, you could do "making sumps" demo then raffle off the sump you make. If a bunch of people have larger tanks you could simply get a 40 breeder (either donated or at one of the Petco $1/gallon sales) and turn it into a sump. Even people with smaller tanks would be interested because they'll eventually want to go bigger and knowing ahead of time how to make a sump would be beneficial.

About demos of monitors...I think that's a fantastic idea. When I first got my RK I thought I was going to toss it against the wall because it was so frustrating. I would have loved to have someone help show me how to use the ding dang thing.

Any chance of moving the meetings around a little bit more? It was awesome to have the one in norwich and was less than half the drive to the lutz for me. But driving to middletown is just to far for some of us on the far east end.

I think the one in Norwich that I helped my father (emessier)with, with the acrylic demonstration what is a good success. got to meet a lot of numbers from the south side;-)

If I remember correctly that meeting in Norwich had a good turn out. We should definitely try to keep moving them around.

That meeting was awesome. Thanks again to Chris and emessier for the awesome demo. I learned a lot and look forward to your next demos. The rockscape demo was awesome as well. Made me come home and redo my tank lol.
