CTARS Community Pico Reef Thread 1-8 gallons

This thread inspired me to start up my pico vase again ( it ran 8 months previously )

Here it goes :

null-4.jpg

1 gallon of water volume after the rock and sand

Couple scoops of live sand from my 29

25watt hydor strip heater

Air stone for circulation

18watt 50/50 bulb for now ( will be getting a par30)

After the cycle ill be doing 100% weekly water changes
Enjoy!!!

I am considering setting up a sunlight powered macro algae pico, not sure what I am using for a tank yet but I want to do something unique and simple.

How much did that ultimate cost you Unclepain?

The light .. 40 bucks was the conversion to USD , then he charged me 3 bucks shipping !

He was very helpful and answered all my emails almost instantly.
Looks like the company has a great product line too.

Thats great I may go that same route. Let us know how it looks when you get it set up. Iam thinking that s the way I wanna go. Iam going to do this tank 1.1 gallons.

Good call with the bare bottom. Since the top is open you might wanna make some sort or auto top off. Ill let you know about the light when it comes in, or feel free to come see it in person.

My par20 reef lamp came in today.

Brad at marineReefLED is the man btw. The light got here from Britain in alittle less the. 2 weeks , he didn't bother charging me shipping PLus he included a 3watt all red led flashlight for "critter watching"
Awesome company and awesome customer service.

Sweet I may have to swing buy and check it out. I have decided to scrap my .8 gal cause evap was just insane partly due to volume and mostly due to the heater I had on it was a little too big and not adjustable. I have since moved it to the place where reef tanks go to collect dust (aka the other side of the basement) and purchased a Deep Blue 3b (3 betta) 2g tank with dims of 12 6 6 plus easier to put a lid on.

Due to its width I am thinking of doing 3 colonies of Coral. I got a cool piece from PC that I already forgot s name. A orange and green Blasto and some kinda of encrusting monti in the center superman, pokerstar or meteor shower is what Iam thinking.

Yea feel free to pm me anytime and ou can stop by. The spread on this light is on the small side ( 8x8 ). Already thinking of upgrading to an ecopico and adding a par 30 as well. Or building an acrylic 8x8x8 cube that I can drill and hide all the equipment underneath.

Iam toying with using 4 leds of an old solara set up

Here is the new layout I may add a sand bed not sure yet

Good call with the aquaclear. Carbon is all you should need. Maybe get a hydor 50 watt heater , I think it it's in the filter if I remeber. I would go with sand if your sticking with that scape
