Cubed & Squared

yeah the rain was horrific, puddles, hail, wind everything. It took me about 1h30 to get to bromley the traffic was bad, but yeah i live in Camberley, my nearest 2 shops are reef dreams and MA Windsor, but i'm always around at diff shops :D

AAC is my fav simply because of Paul, but I haven't been a while, i might pop up there not this sunday, but the one after, then to h2o and then around to the reef shack for an all dayer :D.

I got some sick stuff from clayton, an awesome purple efflo, its a bit brown at the moment, but i'm sure it`ll grab some fluorescence soon, i got a smamll peice of a blue turaki, and blue tenius and i got a really sick green/pink abro/robusta, i think its a robusta, but i'm not sure.

Still wasn't worth the incident that happened afterwards :(

Any chance of a photo of the Blue Turaki mate? AAC is a nice little store. One of my fav actually.

Nice pickups on the other pieces. :)

atleast you didn't go to reefworks and then on the way home someone lose control of their vehicle on the m3 at 70 mph hit the back of my vehicle.

i drive a 70k brand new m3 one of 100 made, its my dream car, and has been since i was 12... to nearly have it totalled collecting corals and nearly die at the same time ;( puts everything into perspective! :D

Wow, thats crazy!

Did it happen because of the severe rain? -I was driving to AAC yesterday and some parts of the motorway was kind of scary driving because there was just so much rain, visibility was so low and idiot people love driving so close to each other that in the event of any one of them breaking in an emergency will mean a pile up for sure!

Did you pickup anything nice from Clayton? Whereabouts do you live mate?Reefworks is fairly local to me.

KritikaL, I'm sorry but I can't possibly feel bad for you....you drive a M3!!!! Just kidding, hope everyone's fine and I hope insurance covered the car?. I don't have an ID on that coral, it's a Bali mariculture that I picked up a couple weeks ago. Looks like you guys have some access to some crazy frags :furious:. BTW, a pic of the Blue Turaki would be very welcome.

Sahin, don't MAKE me bump up your thread now :furious:. I'm....WE..... are waiting patiently :). Let's see the FTS, and then we can proceed in badgering you into buying more frags :p. To be honest, my supply of frags has been terminated. I'll only be doing mari colonies henceforth, won't be rare, but that's ok with me :)

Hi Bello,

sorry to hear of your continued AEFW problems. At least I found my source, my favorite LFS seems to have them in their SPS tank. I bought a few corals that had just come in from a supplier 2 days earlier and discovered bite marks within a week. Depressing, and this was in my acro free tank where I just wanted to grow a few pieces while my main tank sat acroless.

I dipped in Bayer but either made a mistake with the dose or missed some eggs.

Thanks for chiming in Mark :). Sucks that your LFS had them, but at least you know that now. Do both tanks have AEFW now? I really hope not :(. I'm pretty sure that I got AEFW from a friend that I traded a couple frags with. I guess I could consider myself lucky, since my other buddy got AEFW AND Red Bugs from his trade.

Rediscovering the eggs again was a real downer :(, but I've resigned myself to having a Frag tank for a Display for the next few months. Either way, these buggers need to die......NOW!!!! :BLOWN:

I've spent the last 3 days dipping all the corals, slowly and carefully. Haven't found any more eggs or AEFW's. I did find out that I have nudis . Anyways, I'm not too worried about those since I don't have many monti's except for Setosa, which the nudis don't seem to care for anyways.

The other thing I found, was STN on a few corals. Strange, since most had growth tips at the time. When scraping off the algae on stn areas, I noticed that the coral structure was powdery, less dense. I'm not sure why. Could it be a pest? Either way, since I'm paranoid, I gave away those pieces to a couple local buddys of mine :( (Obviously, I did inform them of my suspicions). Just can't risk it :(. Here's what I gave away...Pic under yellow lights, btw

Oh dear Bello, please dont be making a pact with Biggles and his pet Koala about my FTS scandal... :uzi: As scandals go...its best not to talk about them and they die off...everyone soon forgets... :uhoh2:

So you been hiding yet more corals...my god that colony size makes my tiny bits of SPS look like just a new growth tip

Well...Biggles has the GBR as his back yard, and you seem to have Bello's Coral Enterprise...no way can I compete with you two... :(

You know Sahin, I figured out why you haven't posted the FTS. I suspect that you are the sneakiest of us all, and posting the FTS would mean revealing your secrets!!! :p

You guys have awesome access to corals, man. I've been looking for a purple Milka stylo for 2 bloody years. Yes, the same one that grows in bloody gutters all over Europe :p

But yeah, now that I've given away these pieces, I may have some space for a few more mari's :p. I'm hoping to get a Hoeksemai like yours . Plus maybe a Gomezi, and a couple Carduus. Let's see how that goes, fingers crossed....(this usually never ends well :()

To pay for all this, I've been selling off my excess equipment, locally. New on the selling block, is my beloved Vertex Alpha Kone 200.... sigh :(

I gave away those Milka pieces for free a while ago...was even tempted to chuck it in the bin! The stuff grows too fast like a weed...and here you are yearning for a frag of it!

Hoek, Gomezi and the Carduus are all VERY nice choices...so apart from the Milka Stylo you have good taste in corals. :D

PS I wish I had some secret...but nothing special in my tank...or about my tank. :worried2:

Cool pics Bello, i can see the powdery tissue on that big table. Some of my stuff has that look :rolleye1:
No idea what Sahin's acro tissue looks like for obvious reasons........... :deadhorse1:

I went nuts at the LFS in the past week which was a result of no acro buying for several months. Just think about what you'll be adding soon Bello rather than what's coming out mate :)

Do you reckon Sahin even has a tank Bello ? I'm beginning to question his sanity tbh lol. :uhoh2:

So jealous of you guys and your big tanks...I have SO run out of space in my small measly weasely tank.

:lol: This post of yours REALLY made me laugh out loud!

Looks far from blue :(

need to get a t5 2 bulb at the front of the tank, due to my lack of knowledge and retardedness, i've played so many corals badly, that they are shadowing hard.

Hahaha, come on the Milka looks really neat :p. It's funny how certain things are common in certain places, and how much one would pay for them. I'm sure there are a bunch of fisher folk in Bali, wondering why all the bloody foreigners pay sooooo much for sea sticks

Hahahaha, I pinky swear the big table has STN on the base . I do like that particular piece, grown from a mari colony over a couple years. I could see the evil glint in my friends eyes, when they saw me handing it over. "SUCKER"!!!

But to be entirely honest, the thought of adding a few new ones did cross my mind...once :debi:

TBH, I hadn't bought acros in a while, you understand what happens then, right biggles?

So jealous of you guys and your big tanks...I have SO run out of space in my small measly weasely tank.

When's the cube coming in, Sahin? Do you know what the biggest benefit of smaller tanks are? Less acros :p, money saved!!! Or you could do what I'm accused of doing, and ummm...giving them away :debi:

lol lol lol

Glad you're enjoying the show, Mike :p

blue turaki doesn't look tooooo BLUE right now! :D the tips are blue i`ll try and get a photo in a bit :D

I like the structure of the Turaki/Echinata type corals a lot. You've got some nice pieces there already, with a preference for the smooth skinned deep water acros? I can't discern the blue tips in the pics, but the Turaki would look awesome once grown out . I'm looking for one as well, doubt it'll be possible this time around. I'm not that lucky :p

Think the T5 along the front would be a good idea. I admit I'm a bit concerned as well about my placements, since I'm running only leds. Shadowing on the sides on the tanks. I've decided to wait before I make any further lighting changes, choosing instead to place the carduus/suharsonoi type corals I have, towards the sides with lower lights. If you read this entire thread, the amount of mad changes I've already made in the last year, befuddles me :p

You seem to have some rather interesting fish in there as well . I like wrasses and angels, so I'm biased :p

yeah my suhursoi is proper day glow green, it wasn't like that before. But i have some serious nitrate issues atm that arnt dissapearing :/

I run ZEO for 4 weeks now and my nitrates have stayed at 25-50, prior to taking bio pearls off i was keeping them at around 10... :S not sure what it could be but something is killing it :(

If I understand correctly, you switched from bioperals to zeo now? You running full zeo with the stones and everything? Have you seen CUNAReefer's zeo thread?

What signs are you noticing on the corals? Do you have a build thread that we could take a look at?

Cube is next year...hopefully by then, my finances will be better and I would have really improved my SPS keeping skills. Seriously, I want my current tank to get as colourful as possible...only then would I deem the tank is a success and can finally decide to upgrade.
