Has anyone ever had a peppermint shrimp destroy a plate coral?
I target fed the plate coral Wed. night and covered it with a glass overnight, because a peppermint shrimp was trying to steal the meal after the coral closed it's mouth (it's happened before). Thur. morning I removed the glass and went to work. Came home last night to a plate coral skeleton! The plate, before being destroyed, was about the size of a quarter at this point.

I've never seen them totally destroy a coral. Then again I used to feed my shrimp when I needed to target feed corals/anemones. The shrimp don't always get all the food they need in the tank.

I thought of that before I target feed the coral, because of problems in the past. The shrimp in question, had eaten two pieces of mysis shrimp and a plankton pellet.

Two pieces and a pellot may not be enough. Give it a medium sized chunk of whatever it is you feed the coral/enough for the shrimp to carry away.

Are you sure it's a peppermint?
