Cully's Double D's

Finally!!!!!

Finally!!!!!

Well, our sailfin has made it to her new home! I'd post a pic but between my daughter scaring the bejesus out of her followed by a "lights out", photo opaque are at a minimum. If all goes well, I'd like to have all 3 tangs home soon. Sailfin is eating but otherwise hiding at this point.

:eek1::eek2::eek1: Wow blast from the past! Thanks man!

Purple tang, Tomini tang, cherub angel home today. Pics this weekend.

Tank is quite boring but much more interesting than the 6 foot long 12 inch deep frag system they've been living in for the past 11 months. Everyone's happy and eating so far. A few more need to come over, but I've got to watch my levels for a week or so. Nitrates have come down with 3, 35 gallon water changes so far. Takes about 10 minutes total with my new set up.

Lost my 6-line so I'll need a good replacement that eats pods and potentially flat worms. I know Brandon's vote is for a melanurus (sp?) Any other votes Dave?

well brandon has a point when the flat worms are a concern but i like the bipartus . in your situation a melanurus would my first choice for sure . really great to see some life in there and you certainly deserve it my friend !

ATO set up. Still haven't programmed it, but laid the groundwork and completed the plumbing. Works like a champ. Went with a Mag 5 and 1/2" vinyl tubing. Runs under the floor and up the back side of the tank and fills right near the overflow. Again....thanks Pascal

Nice! Consider running directly into the overflow for mixing. The alternative is to go into the sump and have an open tube up the back. You need to prevent siphoning down that reservoir :)

Finally mustered up the gumption to order my bulbs. It's been the limiting factor in getting the canopy completed. Took a few cocktails, but the $200 has been spent. It's a tough pill to swallow all at once. The good thing is the T5's won't get replaced for another 18 months and I'll probably keep my eye out for sales on MH bulbs. LED's are getting more interesting by the day...

FWIW going with Phoenix 14K's. In the past I've used Ushio 10K's when I'm starting up. I don't love the color, but the growth I get with those bulbs is unreal. I LOVE the color of Hammy 14K's but they don't last longer than 6 months IME. Was running Ushio 20K's at the end of the 180's tour of duty and didn't have any strong feelings about them one way or another.

I've heard TONS of people loving on the Phoenix bulbs, so what the hay...I'll give em a shot. My fish are getting pretty sick of swimming around plain old rocks at this point.
