CUNAReefers SPS tank

Thanks Ziyaadb. I've really seen my tank grow by leaps and bounds over the past for months. Once I got the ZEO dialed in, I just sit back and enjoy the tank. Of course there is a little maintenance involved, but I enjoy doing it.

Warmest Regards,
James

James,
Nicely done, I like your approach, with zeovit you should be able to get some great results. You can always add liverock either directly or remotely if you feel you need to boost your bio-filtration down the line. Once the corals fill in, this tank will be heavily discussed, especially for your courage to try a much different approach. Could you elaborate sump, what type of equipement, fuge/liverock, etc? Thanks for posting your tank!

Thank You, Plyle02!

The sump is a 75g tank that I rescued from a pet store that closed down. I have an area that houses some LPS. I will be removing the LPS and placing more SPS down there. My tank can keep LPS alive, but LPS is a challenge for me. I have a fist size piece of live rock holding down some eggcrate that serves as a probe holder.

As for equipment:

GEO 6x24 Calcium Reactor
Avast Marine Kalk Stirrer
BRS 6 stage RODI
Super Dart Gold Return
SRO xp-3000 Int
RKE Controller
Vertex Zeo Reactor

Warmest Regards,
James

That is a beautiful collection you're sporting.

I like those acrylic racks. Looks like it was job to build those.
Pretty impressive how you keep the back wall of your tank clean as well.

Looking forward to seeing you grow this out. Thanks for sharing.

Reef on!

Hi REEF SMAC,

Thank you for the compliment. I think I added my last coral in March of this year and cut myself off from future SPS purchases :) This is going to be the collection going forward.

I really like the racks. They make placing the coral so much easier. I no longer have to worry about anything knocking a frag into an unreachable crevice.

Cleaning the back glass is super easy. I've been slacking lately because my magnavore needs a new pad. A new pad should be here tomorrow along with my ZEO Bio Mate. I love new toys in the mail!

I'll be sure to keep you and the rest of the rc community updated with growth shots.

Warmest Regards,
James

I was taking some actinic shots this afternoon. The growth has really picked up. My GEO 6x24 Calcium Reactor is not able to keep up with the calcium demand so I have to dose Calcium Chloride at a rate of .75ml every 20 minutes. The no live rock and no sand method seems to be working well for me. Hope you enjoy the pics.

This coral has a white to green base, blue tips, and is just starting to develop pink polyps. The pink is only on a couple polyps and is very hard to get on camera. Its only at the base of the polyp right now.

Your SPS colors are fantastic!

I have already copied your SPS feeding advise, oysterfeast and rotifeast, what KZ supplments do you value the most?

Thanks.

Tell me a little about your zeo dosing? Water changes? Salt brand? Lighting times? Carbon used?

Hi MentalNote and Karsseboom,

Hope all is well!

I perform weekly 10% water changes with NeoMarine salt. I do not use carbon as I experienced tissue recession when it was used. My actinics are normally on from 6 am until 8 pm . My daylights are normally on from 10 am until 6 pm. I say "normally" only because I have changed my bulbs as of yesterday and am going through an acclimation period.

Please know that I have matched my nutrient import (feeding) with my nutrient export (skimming, zeo, etc.). I notice the best coloration when I max out my feeding but can keep some detectable nitrate and phosphate in my water.

Below are the ZEOvit additives that I use:

Zeobac twice a week
Biomate twice a week
Zeospur once every two weeks as needed
Extra Special twice a week
Coral Vitalizer daily
AAHC twice a week
ZeoZyme when needed
Coral Snow when needed
ZeoFood
Start 3

I dose 10 drops of zeofood whenever I add my zeobac and biomate.

The additives that have the biggest impact on my coloration are the zeospur and the extra special. As for what I view as the biggest value creator, really depends on what I am trying to acheive. I am constantly trying new combinations to change color and growth.

Hope this helps!
James

Nice collection CUNAReefer! Very nice set-up and great pics. Please keep them coming. How much extra special are you dosing during your 2x weekly regime?
