Cupramine question

I have been treating my fishes with cupramine since the end of march and i have no longer any sign of ich on the fish and according to the seachem kit it looks liek it's at between 0.35 to 0.50 according to my calculation it's dosed for 0.40mg/l) but occasionally i stil lsee my Sohal scratch himself on the pvc pips i nthe QT . I was wondering is the copper working at all killing the ick? I am planning ot take out all the copper in the tank in 2 weeks and start doing prazipro treatment. Could it be flukes?

Between .3 and .5 is a perfectly acceptable level for the cupramine. I would suspect that the ich is gone by now as long as it has always been .3-.5 for the duration that you describe. What you see now is probably as Mrscribbled described. I also saw the occasional "scratch" after a 4 weeks copper treatment on my infected blue tang; however, I have not seen any ich spots on him since (over a year and a half now).

Yeah don't look like he's rubbing it all the time just occasional. I will do some prazi in a week or two and see if it's flukes I don't notice any head twitching.

could be flukes and keep in mind you could still see scratching a week or two after prazi as they die fall off and fish heals

i am going on 6-7 weeks of cupramine now ant it's at 0.4 and i notice my sohal still scratches himself on his gill area every once in a while in the QT. Is it safe to say ich is pretty much dead in the system and it could be flukes or copper irritations? I have jsut dosed my first dosed of prazipro in the QT along with cupramine. wil be doing a second dose tomorrow.

So I removed cupramine and did a few water changes and my disk is still scratching on the pvc. I am pretty sure I killed off the ich since I had it at 0.35 -0.4 for 4+ weeks. I am hesitant to reintroduce them to my 12 week fallow dt.

If you just finished the copper treatment, you should leave them in QT for observation for 4 more weeks just to verify. If the copper level was around .35-.4 for 4 weeks you should be good, however and you may just be observing them scratching while they heal up.
If it were mine, I would just wait it out a few more weeks just to verify.

I would wait as well. I would not trust a fish that is flashing to be parasite free.

I completely agree with SD GUY. I wouldnt dare put a fish in a DT while still showing signs of flashing . I tried to rush a fish out of qt once and wound up treating my DT for three months !!
As for the prazi treatments, were both doses done with the cuppramine still in the water? asking casue Hikari has stated they can be used together but Prazi is less effective while used with Cuppramine. that said , i would do a dose with just Prazi in case you have a tough strain of flukes. good luck and be patient .

Thanks I will leave the sohal in qt a few more weeks. Will dose prazi again this tune without the cupramine
