Curious...will it regain its color

Recently I picked up a anenome from a friend who had it in his sump with several others under lower lighting. It is a GBTA. It appears to be fine in my system, but my question is whether it will regain its greenish color again? The tenacles are white and have been since I got it.

I had got one from him before and it is in one of my other systems and it is fine. The one I'm asking about is smaller than the other one I had received from him. It is also seems to be hiding from the lights (I have T-5s over this tank).

Just curious.

Color in this case will be based on light on light quality and intensity.

First, the anemone will need to regain its zooxanthellae. High levels of zooxanthellae will give it a medium/dark brown color.

Second, it will need to regain/darken its pigment. In some cases, pigment is not affected by low light, in others pigment is a direct reaction to brighter levels of light. GBTA's are, in general, medium light creatures, so it should not take much to bring back healthy levels of green pigmentation. Just be careful not to introduce too much light too quickly, or the anemone may go into light shock and die before it has had the chance to adapt to the new lighting scheme.

Is there anything I can do to help it regain its zooxanthellae?

I purchased a RBTA from someone about 2yrs ago. I didnt realize it at the time, but I think it was badly bleached. It looks really nice, as it has white/clear tentacles with bright pink tips.

I put it at the base of my rock pile under 250W MH and it climbed up to a nice spot almost at the top and has stayed there ever since. I target feed him mysis and other meaty stuff about once a week or so. i always assume he would color up, but in 2 yrs, he has never regained any color, the body and tentacles are still clear/white, and tips are still bright pink. Nor has he actually grown in size. Its actually a very beautiful speciman(although apparently bleached).
