Current Fish list with my wanted list. Is this ok?

I know it is all opinion but after reading some similar threads I wanted to check on my stock.

I have a 120 reef tank with a 50 gallon sump. Running an Octopus Extreme 200 modified with purple pinwheel.

I do a 15-20 gallon change every other week.

I currently have:

1 small Kole Tang
1 small-medium blue throat trigger
1 small six line
1 spotted Mandarin
1 small pygmy angel
2 clowns
and 1 YWMG

I want to add:
another tang (thinking yellow or hippo)
2 purple firefish
1 flame hawkfish

and if room permits, a few bartlett anthias.

Thoughts on this appreciated. Please keep it civil :)

I would nix the 6-line. I am afraid it would harass the peaceful fish (mandarin, firefish) to death.

I have no experience with the blue throat, so I can't comment on it.

I think the kole, clowns, and flame hawkfish are easily doable.

The firefish may hide or not pair up and kill each other. Every time I ever added firefish they either jumped, were hiding all the time (more true for the "regular" firefish than the purple), or were beat up by other fish.

The mandarin and small angel should wait until the tank has matured 6 months-year.

If you add another tang, the yellow would probably be my first choice, although you will probably be ok with the hepatus. It can get large, and they can be shy.

I am not sure if you mis-read my post. I already have most of that in the tank now and they are all doing well :) I do know what you mean about the six line. More so when they get big so maybe it will be docile for a while.

I am only looking to add another tang, flame hawk and the firefish. But I would rather nix the firefish to get a few bartletts. Mainly was checking to make sure I wasn't overdoing the fish load.

I think between the six line when it gets matured and the hawk fish those firefish would get picked on all the time. I would also be concerned that the sixline would out compete the mandarins for pods more so then the sixline picking on the mandarin.

Duh, sorry.

I am glad to hear the 6-line is doing ok for you. I would still worry about adding firefish with it in the tank. Most threads about the 6-line are in relation on how to catch one to remove it, not how to add one

I don't think you have a problem from a stocking level standpoint except for adding the larger hepatus.

Good to hear. The good thing is that I specifically got the target (spotted) mandarin as it eats frozen and pods. I have had it for 2 years and it is as fat as can be. I will definitely get rid of the six line if it messes with my mandarin as my mandarin is my 2nd fav. They seem to be getting along well. The Kole and the six line seem to hang out constantly too :)

Thanks for the tips on the firefish. I will skip those and move on to some Bartlett Anthias :)

I might worry about the Bartletts. They are heavy pod feeders also, and may be tough with a 6 line and mandarin already established.

I would stick to another algae eater.

i would'nt do the hippo, it would outgrow the 120 in no time and you'd have to give him up. ive been there myself in my 180, its a hard thing to do !

Re: Current Fish list with my wanted list. Is this ok?

I'd go for bartletts, don't worry about pods they are very bold eaters and will eat anything you put in. Mine are the strongest eaters in the tank taking mysis, brine, krill, flake, pellets and more. They must be the hardiest and easiest to look after anthia out there. In my 6x2x2 I have 4m and 1f along with five wrasse and a dozen other fish.

I paid attention to my six line last night. I think it likes my spotted mandarin. They hang out close to eachother and don't seem to have any aggresion :) Hope it remains that way b/c if the six line attacked my mandarin, I would harpoon it!!!
