I am looking to possible buy a 72 inch fixture that has 3 250W MH's and 8 T5's that are 36 inches long each. I cannot find anything out on this fixture and I am wondering if anyone has one on here so heard anything on it. I have searched google but cant find anything. I am not sure if I am just searching the wrong things or why I can't find anything but that find of pushes me away from the fixture.

In your posting title you state, "Current USA metal halide, T5 and LED light fixture question". Please describe the LEDs. Are these just Moonlights?

I have this same light but in the 36" version with 2 150W HQI lamps, 4 T5HO, and the LED, which are moonlights. I'm taking out the 3 LED modules, which are useless, and installing 3 multi-LED pucks. Essentially I'll end up with a real MH/T5/LED hybrid I'm going to use over a frag tank. As long as the price is good and you want to do a little DIY, you could end up with a descent light.

The price would be $450. I am debating on buying this or buying the 8 bulb ati sunpower if I can find someone selling that haha. Would the MH and T5's not be good enough for a 180 gallon tank?

I want to be able to grow SPS all over the tank without having to worry about it

Personally, I think you would be fine, however, unless it's being supplied with all new lamps (which may not even be the ones you want), $450 is too much. My 36" Outer Orbit was a give away with the 180 I bought back in 2011. The difference was the 180 I had was 36" deep.

From my fiddling with the fixture, it appears to be decent, except for the bulbs and lamps. The moonlights are WAY to bright and are not lunar cycle controllable, so that are ON and OFF if used.

For the HQI MH, consider the Hamilton or Phoenix 14K lamps.

For the T5, consider ATI Blue Plus and Coral Plus.

Thank you very much. I appreciate it. I thought it was a good deal compared to the other combo lights out there but I wasn't sure since I know it is an old light and discontinued

Price out what a full bulb/lamp replacement would cost and then consider the offer price you want to throw out to the seller. I haven't seen a Current Outer Orbit go for even close to $450 in the past several years.

Yes, you should do just fine with 3 x 250 watt.

The LEDs in that unit are moonlight LEDs.

Its actually a pretty good system provided its in good condition.
