It got rid of the nasty brown film that the freshwater left.
Though considering what my sediment filter pulls out, I guess it's no surprise:

Wow, that's some nasty stuff coming out of your water.
I'll try the vinegar and the blade for the tough spots, I never thought of using those.
On a side note, my RO unit blew again and spewed water out full force for over 4 hours while I was sleeping. fortunately, I have the unit in the sink--since I do not trust it. I woke up in a panic for some reason and went down to check it and saw it blowing all the water out of one of the fittings.
This Coralife RO Unit is the biggest POS I have ever seen. The small hoses keep blowing out of the fittings causing the water to stop flowing through the unit and spit out. I'm gonna duct tape all the hoses to the fittings and eventually get another unit.
It's running again now, but I'm at work and asked my wife to watch it all day. I hate doing that to her. There are so many posts on RC with people hanging their units to the wall, I wish I could do this, but this thing just cannot be trusted.
I went and got 4 bags of the CaribSea Reef Sand (the first link). Also, I grabbed 3 small bags of the Araglive sand of the same size or larger. This sand should avoid any sandstorms.Originally posted by Ocean Image
IMO, with the flow you have, sugar size sand will cause problems. I would stick with the first link you posted and add some seed.
I do have a Y fitting on my sink that splits into the RO Unit and a hose (See pic below). I used to keep the unit on the floor next to the sink and let it fill containers while I was gone or sleeping. Since my flood, I moved the unit into the sink so when the hoses blow off, it sprays into the sink and not the floor. I hate this thing.Originally posted by diemaker
as your r/o unit running and blowing hoses and or fittings why don't you put a mini ball valve at your water supply that way you can turn it off when you aren't making any water and you'll be able to sleep at night again
Wow, two closed loops! Five holes per loop?!?! :eek1:Originally posted by tigerarmy40
I cant waite to see this tank up and running! I have the same exact size and its still sitting on my office room floor! I have tried and tried to get my other half to give me the ok on an inwall setup but no luck, maybe your thread will help....lol, heres a pic of my 150! tell me what you would do as far as the plumbing goes!?!?
That would be money well spent. Throw up some pics of your tank.Originally posted by reefpimp#1
I was actually thinking of having Marc make me a larger sump for my tank. Well charge on we'll be watching!

Wow, two closed loops! Five holes per loop?!?! :eek1:
And I thought I had some serious flow. That would be a plumbing nightmare for me, not to mention expensive to run. Would't even know where to start with that thing.
I guess I would just plumb one intake into a powerfull pump, then throw an 8-way on top and use 8 returns and close the two other returns and second intake with ball valves for later use. Actually, I'd use that second intake for a water change drain.
Why two closed loops? Why 5 holes on each loop?
