Not to be a nag but it actually states
" The bacteria in this product will remain effective when used in marine environments with a specific gravity of 1.017 to 1.025."
My question is why do they give a bottom number if its used in fresh water? Not sure there was much thought about this statement? Seems like they just pulled a number out of a hat ;-) maybe I am just thinking too much :-O
Anyway my SG is at 1.025+ I'll let you know if I see any changes in the next 5 weeks.

Go ahead and stir up all that red crap and break it up. Take a turkey baster for the corals and rocks. Siphon what will come out in sheets first and let the rest hit your filter socks. The socks will clog quickly.

I dose special blend friday.. so far the same thing..no improvments
measure PO4 yestarday with photometer --0.00
Mike it takes like 5 doses/5 weeks + :hammer:

I feel your pain, I was battling it while back and beat it, I was trying a lot of the things but I can tell you what finally worked in the end.
I don't think cutting nutrients or phosphates alone is enough, but both will help if you can.
1) I cut feeding back
2) I was blowing it off the rocks and sand a lot, this did nothing. What really helped was a I kept some fresh saltwater near the tank and every night I would siphon out the cyano, what really helped was I took a shopvac reduced the end with some RO/DI tubing and made a mini vacuum, then after I was done vacuuming I would replace the water with fresh, i think this process was the most effective, every night I could tell it was getting better and better, you are getting it out of the tank and doing small water changes. I feel that if you can keep up with this you can really cut it back.
3. I switched from Phosban back to Rowaphos.
4. I had taken some old rock and made it live again in a bucket, it was from one of my older set ups. I had a couple of pieces in my display, and some in my sump. I took out all the old rock in my sump and bought some new rock for the sump. Old rock can leach phosphates and nutrients into the tank over time.
5. I increased flow and played around with the flow in my tank to eliminate any dead spots.
I can't say whcih worked because I was doing them all at the same time, and I also added some chaeto to my fuge.
I have to say controlling nutritens and phophates alone usually wont help it from what I have read, but I was trying to eliminate every possible cause.
I can say this I broke my echotech while cleaning th wetside last week, and i now have had some small cyano in a low flow spot. So I think increasing flow can really help.

Increased flow, use of Phosban treatment every couple of days, syphoning with water changes ovedr the course of approx 1 month ad mine is almost coompletely gone and it look like the above pics originally, good luck
Hey Mike, I was hoping you would have me beat so that I wouldn't feel so bad.. So much for that thought :lol: I have no doubt that we will beat this stuff.. It looks ugly, but the corals are doing great.. There are far worse issues to have than this in our glass boxes... I'm up for the challenge Bro!!

I would love to blame this on flow, but I have two MP40s at full blast and a retun pump that's way overated for my application. This stuff is not budging...
