(Cycle) High ammonia and nitrate and nitrite increasing

My tank is in day 7 of the cycle now but ammonia and nitrate remains high while nitrite is increasing.

Day 1 - ammonia 0.6, nitrite 0, nitrate 20
Day 3 - ammonia 1.2, nitrite 0, nitrate 20
Day 5 - ammonia 2.0, nitrite 0.05, nitrate 20
Day 7 - ammonia 2.0, nitrite 0.2, nitrate 20

Shouldn't ammonia drop when nitrite increases?

Wait it out or time for a wc? What would you do?

I suspect that organic debris is still decaying, and bacteria aren't processing ammonia at a very high rate yet. Some water changes might help speed up the process a bit, but 2 ppm isn't all that high, so it's a personal choice. You should be able to wait for the level to drop.

Cool. I`ll wait for a few more days before I decide if a WC is necessary.

Hopefully, ammonia starts dropping off.
