I just bought this CYNARINA for 38 bucks delivered .
How did I do ?

I do not know too much about these corals , but it looks to me that it is not fully expanded in this photo. I have read up on them but any personal advice would be appreciated.

It was originally $64.99 at petsolutions, on sale for 48.69 plus 20 for shipping . I had just bought a biocube from them and received a 30 dollar gift certificate for live fish. So I was hoping I did get a good deal!

It's Cynarina lacrymalis. Nice looking one, too.
Keep it in low light and gentle currents and it'll get huge. The tissue is very delicate so be very careful when handling or placing it next to aggressive corals.

One interesting thing about that species of Cynarina is they can come into direct contact with Trachyphyllias without problem. It's one of the few cases in nature where two completely different genera of corals will not show aggression to one another.

Thanks, very interesting !
I was thinking of putting mine in my 29g next to my open brains but I am not sure if they are trachy's or not.

Well I just received it from ups. I am a little concerned the water is very cold I would say between 50 - 60 degrees. It looks very distressed mouth wide open . Tissue is very thin and possibly exposed skeleton or at least thin enough to see the white of the sleleton.

Acclimating now, hope it is ok!

10 minutes after being placed in the tank! The mouth is gaping and I think I do see a couple of spots of the skeleton poking through.

I would say it does not look too bad, but if the water temp was really that low I would say it will not make it. You need to contact the company. Did they use a heat pack? They are nice corals and do grow well. I have the same one you do. Also they are sensitive to water quality.

Yes they used a heat pack. Petsolutions guarantee the pick of the reef items for 14 days but I will call to night and document it too.
Any pics of yours ?

I've seen worse. Take a photo and contact the company to let them know about the temp problem then give it a few days. If the tissue doesn't melt off it'll probably be fine.

And yes, your other brains are trachys so they will be fine touching it.

I hope it pulls through, as it is a really beautiful color!
I love these. But I bet my Bi-color Angel would to, just not the way I do!
