d2mini's 130g Rimless Cube

Well, even if you didn't build your tank, it looks like you're plumbing the RO and water change lines. I just wonder, when you do a continuous water change, how does it know when to top off fresh water?

Absolutely amazing!!! Helps give me inspiration on my 120 setup. Take a look if you get a chance. Not as clean as yours but.... I just started a thread in this section :)

I see your Audi touring in the boxes photo. What model?

I also do photography and I used to design and build modern furniture. I love your home as well!!!

I have a similar return pump to your pan world. Mine is serious. I am thinking of downgrading.

Well, the LM3 will be pulling out and putting in very small yet equal amounts of water. So that won't change evaporation. Water will still be evaporating.

I've had the ATO part working for over 24 hours now. For now I just decided to go with the least complicated method... a float valve in the sump and just using gravity and head pressure from the 55g freshwater tank. Seems to be working fine so far. I may eventually upgrade to the float valve/solenoid unit that BRS sells.

Excellent photography! Love the photo of the Serpent Star. Your planning and efforts are greatly shown in the beauty of your awesome Rimless!!

Wow, two amazing cars! Nice job.
So many cars like this I would want, i just wish i was handier in the automotive department. ;)

Thanks!!!

I hope you don't mind I may pick your brain on the setup you have. It seems you adressing a number of issues I am starting to think about. Please look over my thread from time to time to give me your thought and/or pointers.

Your build is one of the best I have ever seen!!!!

d2, My girlfriend got me a tunze osmolator for christmas this year and I have never owned a ATO system before and I absolutely love this thing! I wouldnt trust regular float valves.
If you look at tank crashes here on RC, most are from kalk overdosing and ATO failures. Tunze makes great equipment and I would research it a little. I wouldnt risk your investment with a 30$ ATO system. Just my .02c
Anyways though, I am very jealous of your system!:D

Ya, i had the dual ATO system from autotopoff.com and it worked great but it creates a problem with wiring with this tank. And the same issue with the tunze. It won't work for me unless ALL electrical components can be contained in the stand and only the water line to my RO tank is exterior of the stand. The BRS one would work but i found that a day after getting the eshopps overflow. I check the tank every day anyway, so I will notice if there is a failure where the float valve prevents ATO water from entering the sump.

FYI I am using the autolock system from BRS and I love it. It is hooked directly to my RO unit but I have the backup solenoid hooked to my ACJr so it only allows it so fill for 1 hour per day so my RO doesn't cycle 50 times a day and wear the membrane out.

BTW I am totally going to steal your auto waterchange idea, lol.

Hi, your tank looks sooooo clean and fresh right now. love it. do you plan on keeping it that way? by that, i mean that i've seen many people let coraline algae grow on the back of their tanks and thinking it looks more natural. how do u feel about that? i personally like the clean look that yours has.

If my tank was against a wall, i would let the coraline grow. But since all 4 sides are viewable i have to keep all 4 sides clean.

I love the cube design and your interesting choice in going more Gulf sub-tropical.

I know sponges require feedings of tiny critters. I know one such Tampa Bay wholesaler that uses Kent Microvert. Do you plan on feeding something like this and are you concerned with water quality if you do?

Scungili, i've been feeding the tank phytofeast a couple days a week and my normal food for the fish is Rod's Food. So far so good but it's only been about 6 weeks.

Here's a couple new pics. My new Sailfin and a wide angle FTS.
I erased the tanks seam lines. Some of what you see is reflections from the sides of the tank. :)

Dennis,

I'm starting a 150g cube build myself. I have my tank, stand, and get my skimmer and return pump tomorrow. I read through this thread several times a day... I'm new to the hobby myself and your thread has been a god send. If you don't mind me asking, now that your tank is set up, what (if any) was one thing you would have done differantly, and what was one thing that actually worked better than you had expected?

Matt
