d2mini's "Essential Focus" Mixed Reef Build

Dennis, this is what I came up with below.. Not only a separated section for the cheato, but there is a swimming tube underneath the cheato area, to not waste potential swimming for the front and rear sections(the fish). I'm hoping they will all take to the tube eventually, but so far, only the damsel swims through it completely.. My plan is to add some mangroves to the front(the lagoon) in the future..
heh heh, nice dude. :D

This is why I got a Theilling Rollermat. The thing is freaking genius! I know TRITON does not recommend it but I am using it and only see the benefits. Crystal clear water, NO FILTER SOCK CLEANNING(!), and no detritus build up as clean filter is continually being pulled and the dirty one gets out automatically.

Yeah, the detritus wasn't really a big deal. It was the crashing chaeto that was the problem and why I cleaned it out.
The Theillings are neat though.

This looks like an awesome build! Great job!
Thanks!

Dennis I don't think I ever asked... how did you do with hitchhikers this time around?
As far as I know, not a single mantis this time.
I'm almost disappointed. lol :D
There's some baby gorillas. I just pick them out as I see them. Much too small to do any damage.
And of course some whelks. But overall it seems to have come in pretty clean.
As far as good stuff, I got at least one of those cool large red and blue pistols.
Tons of little urchins, lots of porcelain crabs, a few decorator crabs...

Dennis - as always, great looking build!

Thanks, bud! :)

Just a teaser of several things I picked up this past week...

More pics soon. Just mounted some the other night and the rest last night.
So check back this weekend for the rest. :)

Love the new pieces Dennis. Do you ever have any issues with putting th eepoxy right on the frag like that? I know the compound heats up a bit and wondered if you ever seen any side effects.

Thanks, Corey. :)
And no... at the very most I may have seen some slight irritation right at the base but the frag gets over it and encrusts over.
99% of the time I see no issue.

Hey Denis, those pieces are awesome! Can't wait to see them all grown out in a couple of years!

On another note, I am waiting to receive a shiny new Profilux4 controlle [emoji847][emoji847][emoji847]. Never had a controller in the past so one thing is bothering me: when the return pump is off the water level in the sump will rise and submerge the probes. Is this an issue?

Hope you don't mind me asking this (basic) question here.

Thanks!

That's awesome! I can't wait to upgrade. :)
Your sump water level rises that much, eh?
It shouldn't be a problem at all if it's temporary.
Just don't keep them submerged all the time. ;)
