d2mini's "Essential Focus" Mixed Reef Build

I plan to copy your AWC scheme when I get my tank up and running.; very cool.

I am getting close enough on my build now that I need to start thinking about TBS rock. I started a 55g last year with TBS as an experiment (learning curve, before my "big" tank), and ordered the 55G package. I found it had too much rock and sand for my taste, so some of the rock ended up in the sump. I am sold on TBS, but I want my next build to have more open space, plus I plan to reuse the rock (not the sand).

I think Richard uses a rule of thumb of 2lbs rock + 1lb sand per gallon in his packages, when ordered by tank size. From your pictures, I am guessing that you didn't get a 120G package - can you share how many pounds of rock/sand you used in this build? It looks about right to me ...
I answered you on the other forum earlier, but for others... this is the 90g package.

This is ONE UGLY DUDE.

And a few coral shots... that won't give anyone nightmares...

D2mini - we need to talk. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder ;) Besides, you must like otherwise he would be with Mr. Toad in the sump.

I've got two and they are always around. Usually one is right by the front glass. Interesting little creatures.

Looking good!

Good shot and it looks very balanced. Have you always had the purple tang? Nice size.

Status of toad fish ;) Just kidding. Your clown picked a interesting host - lol. He/She always hang out there?

Lol - sorry Choss - I quoted your post I guess instead of D2's. I'm such a dork.

The purple is a few weeks old. My first purple tang ever... always been somewhat of a unicorn for me, mainly due to price. :)
All fish are new. 1 Purple Tang, 1 Davinci Clown, 1 Blue Reef Chromis, 1 Blenny, 1 Royal Gramma, and this weekend I added a Blue Star Leopard Wrasse.

The clown moves around but likes that cup coral and the large torch on the other side of the tank.

Toad is still hanging out down below.

Hi Denis, I saw your thread where you are selling the BAO sump. Sorry if I missed it but does this mean you have gone back to your previous method and given up on Triton?

I am now dosing the Core7 "other methods" suplementa to see if it allows for better control of nuisance algae, given my charro is not growing anyway but had a bit of GHA and cyano.

Both pictures are amazing as usual. That is a fantastic looking purple tang. Very beautiful fish.
Thanks!

Yeah, i know it can be hard to miss in a big thread but I stopped running triton when I restarted the tank.
Going back to what i know works which is a simple berlin style sump with chaeto fuge.
Dosing ESV Bionic two part for now and eventually going back to a calcium reactor.
Still in the middle of reworking the components under the hood but I'll have an update soon.
