*d2mini's new 200g Reeftastic Build*

take a little trip.....

take a little trip.....

Well I was diving yesterday getting a load of rock..... and scoping out your "future rock"....summer is here already and the rock is in full bloom, overdrive!

We had no winter, and no spring, just hot and dry all year....the water is already 80 degrees here...never seen that before. The macros are in full bloom, and the rock is incredible...so will have a plethora to choose from....

I am going to investigate parts of the aquaculture lease that I have never laid eyes on before, to scope out your "Future" rock.....five acres is a lot of room, and there is a lot of rock I have yet to see since I put it out there in the early 90's.....this should be a fun adventure.....you should hop on Southwest and come on over...and go on a diving trip with me and get a first hand look!

this is an official invite.....bring you killer cameras...lots to snap here.....

Woohoo!!! Very cool! :bounce3:
Wish i had dive experience and sealed cases for my gear.
Now where the heck is that tank I ordered?!?!

D2 - your tanks have been pretty awesome. I don't want to sound off but I have a question for you. I'm from a different forum but figured I could ask you. I am having a 4ft x 4ft x 18inch cube built by greatlakesaquariums for the house I am having built. I was curious who your stand builder was for your cube? Anyway thanks in advance if you consider sharing :)

I felt privelaged to see your 130g in person last year, and I followed the build from that point on. I will definitely be following this.

Where'd you guys move to? Still in Houston?

Following! Your last build was one of my favorites. You are looking for a sump? I have to admit a custom made Trigger Systems would be pretty cool.

Looking forward to following along on this one Dennis. I am "borrowing" several of your ideas from your cube for my upcoming build after my move in June. Can't wait to see what you come up with this time.

Chris

This is awesome! I might be planning something pretty similar, just can't decide for sure where I want the tank. Either way my sump will be in my garage, and humidity was one of my first concerns. Here in PA I'm not sure how warm my garage will get in the summer, my garage is also part of my home and not detached in any way.

I've been leaning toward the use of Rubbermaid stock tanks myself for the exact reasons you described, you can get a high water volume sump on the cheap.

If vented with a fan on a controller would you really need to frame up your tank room?

PS: I want to come snorkel/dive to pick rock! I'd eat the airfare on that for sure! Hell I'd even buy you a few drinks!

Being a fellow PA resident, I would advice against putting the sump in a garage, unless your garage has A/C ducts ran to it, OR if you'll be running a chiller. Days like today would be fine, but once the temps climb into the high 80's or low 90's, you'll be kicking yourself in the arse!

On the other hand, it would be a cheap way to heat your tank! Lol... Which brings me to my next point, the winter months. You'll want one helluva heater!

Can't wait to see the new tank. Glad to be able to start following this thread right from the start.

Fulshear, but still working in Houston.

So how soon to getting the new tank in?
Hmmm... good question. It's been a solid month so far so another few weeks?

Try Houston. lol
I'm looking into the EcoPlus Commercial Grade chillers.
The 1/2 hp can take a 220g tank down 30 degrees.

Really excited to see this come together. Loved your previous tank. The new place look even more beautiful than the last, congrats. Good luck!! :)
