Damsel & Anemone

I have a Domino Damsel, that was the first "life" in my tank (after the LS & LR). Then today, I decided to get the Anemone (am sure it spoke to me in the store "take me home") I was going to take the Damsel
back to the store and get a clown, but these two are having a serious love affair right now! Just need to know if the anemone response is love or a lure to seduce and gobble up the damsel? My tank is 10 gallons, so only 1 fish for it. I would feel bad about taking the damsel back so if they can get along "safely" then I will keep it.

I put the anemone in the sand at the front of the tank, and it quickly moved into a cool cave in the LR, it was a perfect fit for it. I fed it a couple tiny pieces of soft spirulina that it took willingly, so it's eating. It looks happier here, than at the store & a lot bigger than I thought it was The Damsel is swimming in it, feathering it with it's fins, laying and rolling around in it, and the anemone is loving it back

The xenia is not happy in the pic because the emerald crab is cleaning the rock around the xenia base (or it saw the camera). I also moved the mushroom away from the anemone, so was not pleased when the picture was taken. Seeing some new creature almost every day, isopod, nudibranch (removed), a half shelled snail that looks like a Stomatella, featherdusters, etc.

The 55 gallon tanks "talk" to me now too. Started looking at them as much as the fish & other creatures when I go into the marine/pet shops!

what kind of anemone is it? condylactis?

i sugest meaty foods for the anemone. it looks very bleached right now and the fact that its eating is very good. small chance you can bring it back. what you want is a darker colored anemone. white ones are not always healthy ones.

Yeah you want a darker colored one like above mentioned. Mine was white before but mine got darker.

Yes, it is a pink tipped Condylactus. It decided to move around yesterday and I got another hard lesson when it got caught up in the filter intake. Fortunately, I caught this happening before too much got sucked up, and it was able to withdraw itself within a couple of minutes. After getting over the shock, it moved around a bit, and has been settled into one spot since late last night. The filter intake is now covered with an extra filter bag. It's big and ugly but will provide safety until I get to a craft store and get something that looks a little better.

Thanks for the info on the color...after the first 24 hours, many of the tentacles started to get darker and I was concerned that this was a bad sign! Good to know this is a healthy sign. It's still eating well and expelling waste. I'll get some meaty something for it today

The damsel has become it's protector. I had a coral banded shrimp in the tank and it was distressing both the anemone & damsel. I took it out and am taking this nasty little bugger back to the LFS today.

domino damsels and anemones do have symbiotic relationships in the wild. its a very common occurance to have this happen in home aquaria.

Oh....domino damsel would explain it but it is still uncommon for them to host in in a condy. So yeah it happens frequently with Clown anemones but rare for an Atlantic Condylactis.
