danskim's 300g rimless starphire

I haven't yet because I'm almost never around when they are all on.
Today I was home for about 15 minutes before they turned off. I noticed that it's much easier to see the cloudiness with all bulbs on though :(

I'll try to get one tomorrow. Someone is coming to pick up my old tank, so I'll be home in the afternoon. Woohoo!

Long and shallow has always been the way to go for me. With your last picture you have set what I would remember as a goal to achieve :). Pat yourself, you did an amazing job. I'll keep this thread along with RRodriguez one for when I'll start my dream tank.

FTS with all lights on...
I just noticed that the left side is less blue than the right side because I must have switched out an Aquablue for 6500k... so the left has 2x6500K and the right side has one more Aquablue. Haha...
I have Deuteranopia by the way... which is probably the reason :)

I'm going to place an order for 2 more Blue Plus and 2 more Aquablue to try a different combination. I plan on getting rid of the 6500K and Actinic. Not sure if this is a good idea, but if I don't like it or the corals don't grow well, they can just be backups.

Also I need to figure out a way to prevent the sand in the front from blowing back.

Looks great. I know you mentioned regretted getting rid of your macro, what camera are you shooting with? Did I miss that...

Oh, no. I don't think I mentioned it.

I shoot with a Canon system. I currently have a 5D with 24-70L, 70-200 f/4L IS, and 35L. I'll probably get another 100mm macro hopefully sometime soon. I am placing a big exotic coral order, so it'll probably have to be later than sooner :)

I have a hard time deciding which hobby to spend more money on :) I just got the 35L, and it's a lot of fun!

Wonderful clarity on the shots. I just consumed myself with the digital imaging recently. I purchase a Nikon D40x and also the 105 vr, manfrotto tripod and a remote shutter release. Its a nice starter set. The hardest thing about shooting my tank was the stupid WB. I ended up getting an expodisc and things got a lot better. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah expodisc is good. I use a WhiBal card.
The 105mm makro vr is a good lens.
Hopefully Canon will release some new macros with IS since the 100mm and 180mm are getting old.

Absolutely marvellous! I really love the way youve placed the stones/corals. Very "japanese gardenish" if you know what i mean. :)

I like the way the tank looks as well, should be awesome when it really gets growth in. I guess you don't have to many flow issues in that thank.

Did you ever consider going BB with all those SPS or was that never an option aesthetically. I found with my BB tank that one the coralline grew in it actually looked really nice, a very clean look. Just a thought as you could crank up the water movement significantly then.

Wonderful setup though, like it very much.

Ok, all this camera talk is over my head!:eek2: It is on my birthday wish list to the wife though.

Yes, I did consider a BB... I recall a number of very stunning tanks with BBs that looked extremely clean/minimalist.

I do really like the natural look of sand, so that's the reason I went with it. There are two places where the streams seem to make mini sand dunes, so I need to figure out what to do. I don't like seeing the glass bottom :)

If you need some help/advice, don't hesitate to ask. I love talking reefs and cameras haha.

I must have not been reading carefully when I ordered my cleaning magnet.
I think I need to order an AlgaeFree Great White to replace the Tiger Shark.

Wow.. I put two of the 1w moonlights in, and they are way too bright.
I'd be freaked out if I was a fish. Especially my fish who have only had that weak little Tunze moonlight from the multicontroller... They do really make the fluorescent corals pop out though.

There goes $60 :)
