Ctenochaetus tangs tend to arrive in "clean" condition. Though other authors endorse copper medications with them, I would rather urge you to use freshwater dips and quarantine for the two-pronged benefits of eliminating infestation and hardening your new specimens.

That's the only other source I could really find regarding copper treatment and Bristletooth tangs. Without any substantiation on why the author reccomends this, I'd reject it as well.
 
I've been trying to find a study to back up that statement for years. The closest I've come is a paper in a aquaculture journal on the results of feeding freshwater guppies large doses of copper. Surprise, surprise, surprise.....their fertility diminished but didn't stop.
