Darth Maul Paly

I have the opportunity to buy a Darth Maul paly from a guy who's successfully spawned a baby one and it's grown well and stayed healthy. My question is are these palys really that suceptible to "melting" and is it only a matter of time? They are so beautiful but at $30 per polyp they're also pretty expensive. Also, what tank placement would be best in a Biocube 29g with a 150w HQI light?

from what i hear, some people do have problems with melting with these. i have a friend who has these and they have no problems whatsoever, he's had them for 2-3 months and they grew 3 polyps.

I had them for about 6 months with great growth. Originally purchased 3 and was up to 15 when the inevitable struck and they melted away.

I aquired a few heads on a frag and they melted in my zoa-only tank in days.

What causes them to melt. do the nightmare seem to melt the most?

I have had some melt and I don't know why.Everything else in my tank was doing great.

I've had mine for 3-4 months and they've been awesome! They opened immediately upon receipt and have been my fastest growing palys. I started with 3 or 4 and have more than 15 polyps now. Woo hoo!

$30 seems pretty high...you can get them for $20pp and even $15pp. i had them about 2 ft away from my 250w mh and growth was pretty quick. never had problems with any zoa melting.
