I got a tracking number today, they are on the ball! A 900 will probably work, maybe get a 1/2" valve to put on the line in case its too much.

I talked to peteroma on the phone and they told me it's the same family that owns both DAS and petoroma.

No wonder they're jackin around ORCA on the supply side...

I just got my EX 1 set up and going. cant wait for this little guy to break in!

For tight spaces this is a nice small footprint!

Just thought it would be nice to see one at work. My EX2 one day of skimmate on my 90 BB (lightly stocked and fed)

I was finally able to order my EX-1 from Orca. I requested a few minor mods like a drain for the cup and a platform since my sump is kind of tall.

Hopefully I will have it by next week. I will post some pictures then. :)

So I tried running a gate valve on the output of my EX1 today. I liked that I was able to lower the water throughput and turbulence was siginificantly decreased. However, I ended up taking it off because I noticed it would overflow if I turned off the aquabee (or turned off the air) and then started it up again. I wouldn't mind as much if it were in a sump but running it externally I can't risk this happening if Ithe power goes out and turns back on.

What is the hose coming from the standpipe for?

I got my EX-1 today in perfect shape, no damage. It was very well packed. This was actually one of the best purchasing experiences I have had in the hobby. They are perhaps catching on that people want these skimmers!
The actual skimmer is nice, not as well made as my Orca, but its quiet and fits where I wanted it. I cant believe how small it is, actually. Good deal overall. I would recommend doing something different with the venturi air valve, its annoying. JG fitting as others have suggested is probably the best route.

Good to hear that, let us know how fast it starts removing waste. I haven't set up my tank yet.

For you guys and gals with an EX-2 or any of the EX's I guess.
I notice that there is no gate valve on the output, Does the skimmer output use an expansion pipe to adjust water level in the skimmer? Or do you have to vary the feed water GPH in order to control water level?
Also, what size pipe on the output? Is it metric, 40mm?

Thanks

The EX2 input has a ball valve for input regulation. 1" pvc pipe outlet.

So, no output regulation?

Thanks

I can agree and disagree with that. Now that mine has broken in I had to put the air regulator valves back on. I would like to be able to lower the water level and run the input valve fully open (using MJ1200 feed pump) and take the air valves off. I guess I have some Beckett habits about air intake that just die hard!

Ex-1: 8 hours of skimming and its already produced a thick head at the top of the neck. I will update in the morning, but for now I will just agree with everyone here that says this is one awesome little skimmer.

Judging from the level of the the T fitting (output) I can see the input flow potentially being very limited. I'll have to see when I get one but I bet that either a gate valve and lowering the output T, or using an expansion coupler on the output would add alot of flexibility to the skimmer.

I was running mine mesh modded with the air valve almost fully open for a while. It didn't skim worth crap it was actually too much air. I actually have mine only about 60% open and this seems to be the best for a mesh modded pump, gives a nice steady foam head.
