DasCamel's 375 DT build. What could go wrong?

You could drop a rock onto your foot and break it.

I like your rock design/idea so far.

Thanks, winging it so far. Thinking of putting the rest together inside the tank. Have a feeling it'll soon reach the point of being tough to move.

I ordered a some PVC pieces to connect the return pump. Waiting on that to start on the plumbing.

Mini to do list:

1) Finish rock work. Phase one. Enough to get the tank going. Tired of taking care of everything manually in the 40g breeder.

2) Polish the tank. About that time.

3) Attach weir and external overflow.

4) Divide and modify sump. Cut out part of the Eurobrace for a larger final skimmer.

5) Plumb and fill!!

6) Mount lights. Hydra 52 and HO T5.

7) GFCI repair and electrical. Multiple circuits in the area. Even an unused 220 designed for a dryer. Splitting equipment across as many as possible. So one breaker trip alone won't be fatal. Battery backup needs to planned. Seems like power outages are common out here.

8) Final cabinet work, design, canopy and rock work. Phase two.

9) Throw a party?

Just walked downstairs. Noticed powder blue just hanging out low in the corner. Let the dogs out and went to check. Looked pale, lethargy and by looking at the fins and one spot on his body. He swam into the Magnifica. Upon inspection the Mag had 5 damaged tentacles. Anyway, damage was done. Tried to isolate but already too late. Within 10 minutes already dead. So close to his new home after 1000 mile road trip effectively two tank moves. RIP.

He was swimming poorly bouncing off of everything then passed shortly after. I had him isolated, passed few minutes after. Didn't want to fed the nems, way too messy given the situation. Anyway, going to get some help and move the project along a bit. Very least get everyone moved in sooner than later. Going to test run with tap water to get rocks clean, and get things moving along. With live rock in great condition, should be able to bypass a cycle.

Holes drilled in the back tank wall.
Attached internal/external overflow.
I love weld on 40! No half measures, that overflow isn't coming off.

Painted the back wall, layed out the drain plumbing ready to be glued together.

Didn't like the Novus polishing set, would take 3 days straight with their setup. Stealing some techniques from the automotive polishing world for clear coat to speed things along.

So polish, final rock setup, then test with freshwater.

Why am I doing this again? Insanity...

Polishing sucks. Serious motivational killer.

http://www.corallore.com/buffing-acrylic/

This site lays down a process close to what I'm doing. Given the large surface areas inside and out, very slow and painstaking.

Anyway, about 50% polished, technique nailed down, all equipment needed in hand, I'll post pics when done. Every pane had deep scratches inside and out. Outside easy, inside not so much. Some of the previous multiple owners damage can't be repaired, expected as much.

Got 1/2 the rock situated in the tank, once I hit 3/4 rocks, test fill to test plumbing and more photos.

Magnifica pedestal is looking great assembled inside.

Thanks!! Just fixed a small leak on the external overflow and am excited to cement the plumbing.

So, flow to sump won't be a problem. In fact, at full power ridiculously over board. Sump has a slight leak. Sigh. I think it's from where the two halves are joined together. What I get for getting cheap/used. :)) Easy enough fix, just waste of time.

Fine tuned the Bean Animal, with 1.5" pipes handles the flow adequately and quite easily. Easily overkill. I'll post a vid when the return line is secured.

Got a problem though, the water level in the tank is too high. It touches the center brace on the under side. (It flexes under load....) I could let it be, another thing to clean....

I placed the top edge of the weir close to the top, maybe 1/4" gap to keep fish from going over

So do I just wait to drain and extend the teeth height with a Dremel? It's already bonded to the tank. Under the Eurobrace. That'll lower the water level I guess.

Enough done to fill, how long will this take to fill? All the plumbing works and leak tested. XF 280 Gyre installed, playing with settings. Beginning to think I need two. Sigh.

Anyway, serviced RODI unit, water is filling 24/7. Placed a couple water leak alarms. Time to work on more things.

Looking good, I like the scape!

I'd drain and dremel down the slots on the overflow a little, I had the same issue with a previous tank and it always bugged me. I finally knocked a couple teeth out completely, not the prettiest solution but it worked.

Id guess 4.5 days to fill with RO going constantly unless you have a big RO unit. :)

Is there a live webcam feed?? Nothing like watching grass grow, or in this case, watching water being made.

We can all dream about the day it dills up.

I'll try to do that while watching it fill. Not high on the fun list lol.

Did you use a bur or disc on the Dremel?
