It was a beautiful weekend but still too cold to swim. Took my 16 month old to the beach to get her first feel for the sand. She loved it! I would love some critique on these, good or bad. Shot with my 7D and 50mm 1.4. Thanks guys!

wow Austin I never realized that your daughter's already walking. Time flies and boy do kids grow up so quick. Love the portraits man. #1 has a nice touch of backlighting. I'm surprised the Canon didn't fall apart... j/k :p ha ha ha

Haha 10,000 strong and clicking! I was just looking through your long exposure thread. You are very creative bro!

Thanks, now looking at them, I think 1 and 4 got a little dark and washed out from the desaturation. I am gonna work on those when I get home. Do you think the desaturation overall worked or took away from the picture? I was going for that aged look.

I have to say the last 2 are my favorite although I think I could have benefited from some fill light on her face on the second to last one.

No, they're cool. I love the vintage look, but sometimes the vignette can be overused. Do you use Lightroom? If you do, you can download free presets all over the web to get even more creative with portraits. If you're not using LR, you should give it a try.. I really really recommend it.

Funny I originally was using lightroom but when I first got my 7D, if I remember correctly it did not support the 7D yet so I ended up using the Canon software. I have just recently started using lightroom again. I see that it has some preloaded presets, where can I download more?

BTW I Agree, a couple have way too much vinette

Adorable! I really like first particularly and the last as well. 2 and 3 look too flat / washed out for me and I'm not a big fan of vignettes. I might have cropped a bit tighter on 1, as the tall trees are a bit distracting, for me.

Nice job with the "halo like" backlighting around her head while maintaining good face exposure.

My post sounds critical but I think you did well, really!

TS - Thanks man! But I think your confusing me with someone else... :) I have posted plenty of pictures of her but nothing about painting a room... haha. It's ok though, I appreciate the comment. She is growing so fast it's rediculous!

Reef Bass - Thanks for the feedback. I didn't think it was very critical at all. I completely agree. I definitely went overboard on the vinette and 2,3, and even 4 seem a little washed out from either the vinetting or desaturation. I didn't have a chance to try again last night but I will give it another go. I still struggle with PP...

I would add some grain and selective dodging & burning on some images, maybe a little USM to make them pop. As for the LR presets, just google "download lightroom presets".
